Wiring shorted out & zapped battery terminals
I was trying to work on the running issues on my car. It was not running right, cutting out/ stall, I narrowed it down to the vaccuum pot that connects from intake vacuum through the vacuum pot & to the air intake. If I remove the pot & plug the vacuum lines it idles good but no throttle response still. If I connect a straight tube with vacuum pot removed it idled at 4000rpm so I shut it down. Trying to find how to bypass the vacuum pot properly to get it running right. There is no new part available to replace this.
Anyways, so I went to try & work on it again, the battery zapped, a puff of smoke & looks like tried to weld itself the the baterry terminal!. Now when I try to start the car there is no power going through to the car. I am wondering if anyone knows what fuses, relays or such may have blown so I can try & fix it. Also it may have been a chewed wire that touched the body of the car & caused the short, is my suspicion. I have taped wires up before from mice chews, mabye it happened again. I was also told the starter could have shorted itself positive to negative, not common but possible I was told. My main issue is trying to find the fuse/relay or what have you that may have blown during this.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers, Happy new year
