Made the switch

After 19 years of owning 7-series, I've made the leap over to the plug-in world. (https://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=902176)

I picked up a 2018 i3s, Fluid Black Deka Dark Cloth, Deka World, with the Tech+ Driver Assist Package (ACC Stop & Go + Active Driver Asst) - Nav System, Connected Drive Services, Advanced RTTI, plus the TurboCord Charger, Apple CarPlay Compatibility, 20" Wheels. $53,245 sticker. $700 down $400 a month including tax. The Turbo Charging Cord plugs into the adapter I bought off of Amazon (see pic) which plugs into an existing 220 outlet I had which I didn't want to switch out to fit the 10-20 NEMA faceplate it would need to work. It takes 1/4th the time to charge. I get a full charge in about 4 hours. My 25% charge takes about 1 hour, which is 25 miles or so.

The i3s also came with 2 years of FREE DC evGo charging. I can get a full charge in like 28 mins.

Car costs half my 2016 750 xDrive which I turn in next month that has barely 24k miles on it.

I've done the conservative math and not taking into consideration that I have solar on my house, by not getting another 750, I'm saving $38k over the next 3 years.

So far so good and I'm loving it. My wife, not so much. But I got her the 2019 X5 and she loves that car and says it's a lot like the 7.

The only thing I wish was different is the horn. I don't think I'll ever use it. No one will pay attention and if anything I'll get laughed at. Lol. Meep meep.

Congrats! I made the move late last year; 2018 i3s in Imperial Blue, TECH pkg, HK, CP, and blue belts. The sunroof was just dead weight and I was not interested in the leather.

I have a partial VIN pull for the 2018 S model but only in BEV trim. Is your VIN below in the my sorted list?

No, it's not in that list.

Hi guys! I've come full circle Swapped my 2012 F01 7 series for an i3 in 2015. Loved it, has had three i3s all REX as my wife also went an i3. After 4 years thoroughly enjoying the i3s made a switch back to a G12. Funny how it goes! Certainly kept one last i3 in the family, it is staying long-term, ditto the G12.

Good to hear, and I think I may end up with an iVision in 3 years if they have them out by then. I'm kinda bummed out that the 2019 model has 153 miles range over the 112 or 113 mile range on the 2018 that I have. It would be nice to have had the extra range.

I believe he meant "i3s" as in multiple i3 vehicles; not the i3S sport model

Yeah, I realized that so I went back and corrected it and mentioned something else in my post.

I have a 2018 and don't mind the range. My work vehicle is a 2019, and I don't make any change in driving habits or behaviors between the two

My 2014 i3 has enough range for my needs. Everyone is different. Sometimes, it's just lust, though. While I like my i3 and drive it 95% of the time...if I really needed to drive the full range of the new ones in between charges, I think I'd still not want to do it. It makes sense for people that maybe can't charge at home each day - it should allow doing it maybe once or twice a week somewhere else, which may work out better for their situation.

Having the TurboCord Charger makes a HUGE difference for me. Also 2 years of EVgo fast charge for FREE is another plus. I haven't taken a long trip with it yet, but plan to, and do a fast charge on the way back to feel out the experience.

But I have to tell you, two months in, and I love it. I like how nimble it is, and I don't miss all the luxury of my 750, well at least not yet.
