Noise when closing sunroof

Good Afternoon Everyone,

While coming back from a BMWCCA event last night, I noticed a louder noise (almost like a whirring) when the sunroof was closing. It seemed to come from the area near the sun-visor and was more pronounced when the sunroof was closing (as opposed to opening). I checked the tracks and didn't see anything of concern. The sunroof opens and closes without issue.

My warranty ends in July, so I hope its not a sign that the motor is failing.

Any ideas? Thanks. -Matt

Try lubing the rails with something like Sylglide.

Yeah, my idea is to go to the dealer and get it fixed before your warranty runs out!

If your warranty is near the end, I NOT do anything to try and fix it, and I would take a video of the issue in a place where the sound is clear enough to hear on the video, and make an appointment to bring the car in ASAP. The last thing you want to do, is give it some band-aid fix and have the noise come back right after your warranty is up.

THEN--if the dealer says there's nothing for them to fix, start lubricating the S/R.
