7 Series - E65 / E66 (2002 - 2008)
Discussion of BMW's 4th generation E65/E66 7 Series flagship. The E65 generated much controversy, due to its radical styling and iDrive user difficulties. Nonetheless, the E65 broke records to become the best-selling 7-series iteration ever, especially after its 2005 facelift.

2008 760li - Cannot get heat exchanger back on

I unclipped the heat exchanger from the radiator to investigate a leak and now when I try and push it back on, the radiator gives a little bit and wont clip fully into place. Does anyone have any experience with this? I'm afraid i'm going to break something if I keep pushing.

I would like to hold the radiator in place somehow, but there is a "module carrier" that blocks my access to the radiator from the bottom and I'm not sure how to remove it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I assume you are referring to the transmission cooler.

My recollection is there is a lever you lift up and then the heat exchanger can be withdrawn from the radiator. There is an O-ring on each of the coolant lines that feed engine coolant through the heat exchanger.

To re-attach you push it on to the radiator and then slide the lever to lock it in.

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, it's the transmission cooler that I'm referring to. And yes, there is a lever that is used to attach it with. My issue is that I can't get the cooler on enough for the lever to fully clip it back into place. It just falls off again.

The top of the carrier has a hook. It need to be hooked on then pressed into place.
