F85 X5 M and F86 X6 M (2016 - Current)
The BMW X5 M and X6 M are high-performance derivative of the X5 and X6. Introduced at the 2014 LA Auto Show and appearing in dealerships in 2015. Both modeles are powered by BMW's S63tu twin turbo charged V8 making 567 HP and 553 lb-ft of torque, the most power for any BMW xDrive vehicle.

X5 CPO Buying Advice

I am looking at buying a CPO X5. I have always stayed away from AWD option as I will never need that kind of traction in Houston. However, I used to have a classic 300SD MB, heresy I know, but I loved the torque of that 36-year-old 5-cylinder 125HP motor. But I digress.

However, the only option for an X5 diesel is the xDrive 3.5d. What are the reliability and durability of the AWD system and the X5 in general?

Are there better years than others?

My other option is to do the sDrive 3.5 gas engine, again the same question what are the known issues for both.

I tend to keep these my BMW CPO's for about 6-7 years or 2 years past their warranties.

Appreciate your feedback.

Many thanks,
