Differential seals

I was told by my dealer that there is a leak from the differential side seals. He knows I like to source my own parts and will install them for me but it's not clear to me what that actual part is. I found the following part number

33121213949

This corresponds to this part on one spare parts supplier.

Is this the right seal and from some sites I've seen there's one or two? Thanks for any advice folks can provide.

To me, "side seal" suggests the seal on one of the output shafts, which connect to the axles https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=33_1597. The part you cite is for the input shaft, which attaches to the driveshaft.

Obviously you have to know where the leak is before you buy the replacement part, which is cheap. I'd just tell your mechanic to source the part on his own, since he knows what's leaking.

That's what my dealer said when I sent him the part number. He said let him source the part since he knows what he needs and what he does not. I sense there isn't going to much saving if I try to source the part and I might get it wrong!
