Honestly for a car this old, pretty much any old Windows XP operating system will do. I purchased one for $25 on ebay. I put DIS, INPA, etc... and BMWFlash to upload any tunes to your ECU. I think the one you listed above will do the job just fine.

It used to be important but drivers and such will work on pretty much any OS nowadays

I have the software loaded up on WinXP, Win7 and Win10-64bit and they all work fine

If there's an operating system installed on it already then that's all you need.

I'll send you a link where you can download an image of all the software you'll need. VERY easy to install. If you want to install things piece by piece it can be a little challenging.

Where did you get your software? I have an old software bought 2 years ago. But after the OS has been up-graded to WIN10-64 bit, it failed to be installed again. And I have to buy another tool a month ago. Thanks.

I downloaded it from different sources over the years.

You can get most of it from Bimmergeeks.net

On my Win10 laptop I had a running installation of ISTA that wouldn't start after some windows update were automatically installed.

Ugh! I can't seem to find where I saved the link to the image software

The download is almost 20gig otherwise I'd upload it somewhere for you, but we don't have real "high speed" internet in the sticks

I'll keep looking but maybe someone else has the software or a download link. bmw_tools.ova is the image file you're looking for

Thank you for the tips, I found the file on mega.nz, but the download is a issue.

I already bought twice for 2 other tools, one Inpa was bought from ebay and now it is useless after I installed new windows-10 64bit on the laptop. The other one is physical tool "Foxwell NT201 Auto OBD2 Scanner" and it is simple but useful for now.

I will try to download it for free now.

What issue are you having with the download? I know in some cases Mega will only allow you to download 5gig at a time, but I believe you can get around that by using the Mega plugin for your browser.

I downloaded the file last year so maybe mega has changed the way they do things since then?

Are you talking about Navcoder for the iBus? http://www.navcoder.com/
They make serial and USB interfaces.
