Next truck will be a 1500 Silverado 3.0 I6 diesel with the 10 speed auto. That wont be until the mid cycle refresh with a new hopefully nice interior.

A good friend of mine works for GM in Detroit and he gets to drive all sorts of cars and trucks that are in some form of development. He had a pre-production 1500 with that drivetrain for a number of months and thought it was great. It seems like an ideal setup.

In other news, I finished refurbishing the GTO frame and painted it last week. Spent the weekend assembling the new rear end and suspension. It's mostly just mocked up to test fitment right now, but coming along nicely.
That frame is looking beautiful. I love seeing freshly painted and new parts on the underside of cars. They always look so nice right after paint. Keep up the good work.

I am officially quarantined until this whole Coronavirus thing dies down. It is for the best through as looking for the mortality rates for diabetics 7.3% is the number I found. That is not a chance I want to take with my life so i am happy to sit at home and live. I on bring side this gives me the chance to work on some things around the house I wanted to do. I just finished making a full polyhedral dice set out of solid sterling silver with gold plated numbering. They are not perfect but they roll randomly so they will work. For a first attempt at any sort of sliver or casting work I would say they turned out ok.

They are all sand cast then I cleaned them up with sand paper. The numbering is stamped in. At first I try using dice with the numbering relived on them to make the molds but I didn't like how the number turn out that way. So I found some blank dice to make the molds from and stamped in the numbers after casting.

They get excellent fuel mileage too. Just need an interior that doesnt look 10 years old!

Aaand now Washington State is under stay-at-home orders. Took longer than I expected to get to this point.

I've been working from home for three weeks now, and we also changed our daily routines around that time when Seattle was the epicenter of the outbreak in the U.S., so life won't be all that different from what it has been for a little while. That said, I do miss being able to eat dinner out, see movies, etc. With non-essential businesses being forced to close their doors, that means I will no longer be able to work on the GTO until the decree is lifted and the shop where I keep it is reopened. I usually put in about 15-20 hours of work on the GTO per week, so that will be a big change from me and not having that outlet will suck.

On the other hand, the extra time at home will probably force me to revisit some household chores that have been put on the back burner for a while. But yeah, I'm getting kinda bored, and the lockdown just started...

Yep, I still have the 328. It hasn't really changed much over the years, and has held up to track duty quite admirably. The last major upgrade was in 2018 with dropping the rear subframe and replacing all rear bushings and ball joints, and welding in reinforcement plates while the subframe was out. Also installed an E46 330 ZHP steering rack at that time. Otherwise, just fluids, brakes, and tires.

Me too, and it would've happened years ago, but I decided to greenlight the GTO resto first. It'll happen someday.

A friend of mine had the same diesel Colorado. Loved it for 38K miles, then it died on him on the way home from work. Chevy never got it running right again so now he's got a gas engine Colorado.
When it died he took a selfie with the truck in the background while he waited for AAA. He didn't notice it at the time but in the background was a crematorium. Perfect backdrop for what eventually became of the truck.

Is it really necessary to buy a 230k mile E36 from out of state? Also, the number one rule of buying a used car is to not buy a used car from Florida due to how easy it is to title-wash there.

The NEWEST official E36 OT Thread!!

Hey guys , long time I been here

OT revival due to Corona, work was halted on Wed, two days home and already going crazy, jk

Cant believe its been so long since I been here. Lots of things have changed, quick catch up
- New job/trade, Im a Union Carpenter now
- Got married Oct 2018
- Still have the E36
- Just passed the 200k miles mark
- Still auto and havent had the chance to do the 5spd swap
- Might have bad head gasket, notice more than usual condensation in cold startup, coolant loss from small leak too, testing/diagnosis coming up
- Still have the DMAX, this thing should outlast me, close to 200k. Did a front end refresh, bushings and ball joints, what a pain since the keys rust welded to the torsion bars, never got them off, and still fighting with one CEL code, time to replace EGR
- Got my first taste of a complete engine replacement on a 2008 F150 5.4 3v, rebuild was not feasible as rod walked on crank from two blown pistons. Replacement engine runs like a champ at 172k old engine had 320k but trans has no overdrive no surprise there since may have as many miles as old engine, its out so will be doing a rebuild during this stay home period

- I need a new daily

Anyways just did a quick look at the forum and Im glad you guys are doing well and most still around, got too busy with life so kind of faded away.

Franklyn, prayers with you man

Horn, happy late bday, mine is the 12th so bday month buddies lol

And Karl, you had me drooling one the GTO progress, looking great
