Car still waiting at port, is this normal?

Dropped my car off at Harms on Feb 3, exactly 2 weeks ago. I was told that I could check the bmwusa.com website to see when it gets on the boat ("en route", as opposed to "awaiting transit"). I emailed my CA to ask him about it 4-5 days later, and he just said it takes some time to show up in the system, which I understand. I emailed him again last Friday to see if he had more info, but never got a response. The telephone number I called said "In transit, contact your BMW center for more information". It told me that last Wednesday or so.

So can I infer anything from all this? Has it made it onto the boat? If not, is it normal to wait 2 weeks just to board? Most of what I read seemed to indicate the normal wait time was closer to 4-7 days.

I know I'm being impatient, but I guess I was looking for a little bit more support from my CA.

Check the Wiki. You can get more specific and up-to-date information by putting your VIN number into this website (for East Coast deliveries): http://schedule.2wglobal.com/AppTracking/cargoTrack.do

Thanks, it looks like my car is on the Toreador. It just left port in Southampton, UK today and will make it to NY on Feb 26. At least its on the way!

Appreciate the help.

No worries. The wait is always the worst part. At least knowing your BMW is on a ship and moving West makes it a bit easier.

August 11 dropoff - September 19 at the dealer. This included repair of a scratch on the front bumper at the port.

Really? This is excellent news. I have a scratch on the right side mirror housing that will need to get fixed. I was hoping this wouldn't add untold weeks to the process. So they fix it at the port? Did you follow the procedure on the paper given to you at the Harms dropoff? It instructed me to fax it and the condition report to Jennifer O'Neil at BMW NA and my CA at my dealership. I did so, and my CA responded by saying that it would be taken care of. If its done at port I'm sure it'll be a quicker than if done by the dealer.

The worst part for me was after my car landed in Port Elizabeth/Newark/New York and then dropped into a black hole. As did my mental condition. One begins to imagine the worst and those fears are compunded daily. Not knowing what is going on is the hardest thing. Non ED cars which came over on the same ship were trucked a thousand miles away, and were in the hands of their new owners, before the drug sniffing dogs which cleared my car were even born.

It looks like we are both on the same boat. Luckily my car was repaired before it was dropped off at Harms. My CA told me they should have it around the 5th

Looks like we're literally "in the same boat" then. Glad to hear your CA thinks they can turn it around so quickly after arriving in NY. Your car has farther to be trucked, but my car needs a minor repair, perhaps we'll get them around the same time. All I know is that March 5 would be fantastic! That'd be just over 1 month for me. The Toreador is scheduled to arrive at port in NY on 2/26, so it just might happen.
