328 vs 335

In Colorado, temporary tags have year/make/model printed on them.
That's how I know I was driving behind then next to then in front of a 2007 335i.

I looked at some various specs and things comparing the 335 to the 328. (2008 model year)
Everything looks the same, except for power & torque.
Is the only difference between the 2 vehicles the 3-stage intake manifold on the 335?
And obviously the ECU is advised of the manifold difference.
AFAIK, they both have the 3.0L I6.

Which means I can seriously kick the horsepower in the ass on my 328 by doing 1 of 2 things:
1. install the 3-stage manifold & get the ECU reflashed
2. install a K&N filter (or at least the sticker)

Tell me there's more to it than that...

(yes, there is an attempt at humor there)

Haha, attempt at humor is successful.

Or did you mean a 330?

I'm pretty sure the tag said "335", but I could be mistaken.
I was trying not to laugh at the lowered suspension making the tires rub in the wheel wells as we drove on I25...

The lookup I did was comparing a 328 and a 335.

Not sure what you are looking for here. 328 does not compare in HP output with the 335, especially since the 328 is NA and the 335 is twin turbo and we are at an elevation of roughly 6500 ft. A normally aspirated engine will lose about 3% of its horsepower for every 1000 ft of elevation. At that altitude you are already down nearly 20% in power, whereas the turbo charged engine doesn't suffer from that issue. Additionally, there is nearly nothing that can be done to the 328 engine to improve it's performance, and with what it costs to make those improvements you could pretty much just buy the 335. Lowering your car and putting on a louder exhaust will make it faster on either model.

There's the bit of data I didn't have. Thank you.

See? That's what I thought!
What about stripes? Those add horsepower, right?
More or less than stickers, do you think?

Turbo suffers from high elevation environment, just not to that extent. Main advantage of turbo is that you donít need atmospheric pressure to relay on. Turbo will do it. However, turbo cannot make up for thinner air. Also, turbo lag bcs. of lower atmospheric pressure will be more obvious.
