I'm in love! So glad I made the change from old X5 to new generation. I feel like I'm a gangster driving this beautiful beast blissfully around town. Got the base s40 engine with M sport and 22 inch wheels. It's everything I want/need! Thank you BMW!!!

Congrats...but what in tarnation is an "s40 engine"? The current BMW engine codes are either preceded by an "N" or by an "S". The engine codes preceded by an "S" indicates an engine that would be installed in an "M" BMW...and in this case the f15 "real/true" M is the F85 X5M which has the S63 engine. Everything else is just a cosmetic or slightly enhanced (aka suspension or brakes) package/option.

Goodness it's a rough crowd in bimmerfest. I don't know the engine codes! Is there a glossary of terms to sign off on when becoming a member? So far today I've gotten someone telling me I commented on an old thread and you calling me out of not correctly addressing my engine. The S40 is the base engine with RWD which is just delightful to drive and I added the cosmetic M sport package.... Y'all are buzzkills on this bummerfest...***x1f928;

Congrats on your new X5. I finally got mine last week. The new X5 is known around these parts as the G05, and you will find a separate area for it under the X5 section, although it is not very active. It is confusing because in one of the menus, it lists the area where you are now as the most current. They just never updated it. There is another forum site that starts with Bimmer and ends with Post where the recent X5 community is a little more active. There is also a Facebook group for the X5, if you are the brave sort.

I am loving this car...so fun to drive.

They updated it weeks ago:

It's clear now. (But, yes, it had been confusing nomenclature for a year.)

KMPFlorida, welcome! Congrats on your new G05.

It is still wrong on the main menu, where a new user would likely start. (see attachment)

Quite the contrary. This isn't an old thread. It's actually a rather active thread. But it's for the old vehicle. You have a new one, all full o' delicious new-car-smell.

Actually, we're just trying to help you. Your new X5 peeps are located here, one forum over:

https://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/fo...play.php?f=259

BTW, before you go, getting the 2WD "sDrive" version was a savvy choice for Florida.
