E63 / E64 6 Series (2004 - 2010)
The E63/E64 BMW 6 Series builds on BMW's sporty heritage with aggressive lines and an incredible motor to back the design up. Available in coupe and convertible trims with a standard 4.8 liter engine producing 360 horsepower and 360 lb-ft of torque, the 6-series is a popular choice that exceeds expectations.

Exclamation Pittsburgh Automotive Jacks RECALLED - Tell a Friend

I am passing this on from the 7 Series forum.

Harbor Freight, the store we all know and love has recalled over 1.5 million 3 and 6-ton jacks.

You can read more here:

I would suggest getting either Torrin Big Red jacks with the safety pin or a set of Duralast jack stands. Those are the two brands I use.

These forums are communities of DIYers and I'd hate to lose a friend to a faulty jack stand.

Thanks for the heads up. My HF stands are orange and white and definitely pre-2013.

But it does give one pause.

Great find Herb, thanks!

FYI, their HQ is about 1 mile from my house and I go past it at least twice a day. They have a lot of stores in the area and a huge warehouse distribution center about 20 miles away.

HF has the finest crap tools and supplies you can find. It's dirt cheap and worth less than what you pay. Problem is sometimes you only need cheap crap.

I buy many things there but I set my expectations low, so I'm never disappointed or surprised.

I just went to my garage and pulled out the HF 3 ton jack-stands I have. I'll get my gift card later today.

This would wreck your day huh, thinking you were "safe" with jack stands installed... I remember my after High School job at a "service station" Jacking up cars with our big hydraulic jack and just sliding under a car with NOTHING else holding it up.... The real scary stories are the guys who were using a bumper jack ( I never did) to work under a car.... Scary .
I have two HF aluminum 3 ton stands... Looks like mine are OK....

Glad it helped you out. You just can't beat the price on some of there tools, since they usually have a lifetime warranty on the hand tools. They will last as long as Craftsman, but you will break a few along the way.

Went to HF. As soon as I waked in the guy at the door said "recall?" I nodded yes and he said "put them there". Mine joined a pile on the floor. They were out of new ones so they gave me a store credit.
