What type of bike rack do you use

I am in need of a trunk type rack to transport my bike now that I no longer own a truck. Does anyone have any good or bad feedback on trunk racks? My bike is 61cm so the back seat is a hassle and trunk is not an option. I do have a trailer rack but a custom hitch would require drilling in the spare tire area and partial removal of the bumper. My main concern with the trunk racks are has anyone had problems with the clips leaving scratches or the pads wearing on the pain. Thanks.
