Mein Auto:
Should I worry?

I bought my first BMW, a new 2008 535xi, in November 2007. I have put less than 4000 miles on my car and already the display tells me I need engine oil. I've never run into this situation before and don't know if this might indicate a problem. I've read the manual, which indicates that this is acceptable, but other cars I have owned have also made similar statements in their manuals, yet I've never run low on engine oil in any of these other cars. Can anyone help me understand what may be happening, or perhaps what is different about BMW's, that is causing me to burn oil so fast (relatively speaking)? Thanks,

Red

Take it to the dealer, probably a sensor item.
