But in not sure what to ask my CA about ordering a 330i. The opening post in this thread says the 2017 3s are "coming soon".
Okay, but you asked about 328's. Okay, so it's really a 330i. Those are the only ones they don't have pricing and ordering guides on yet. The opening post doesn't say 3's are "coming soon," it says 330i's are coming soon. They have the pricing and ordering guides on all the other 3's.

I guess you'll have to wait a little longer if it's really a 330i, the only model the pricing and ordering guides haven't yet been released on.

Got it, thank you. Maybe what threw me off is that the link to the SOP (pdf) shows MY 2017 328s SOP as July 2017, no mention of a 330 (other than a 330e). How is this possible in an official BMW doc? Maybe they made the same error I did and carried over 2016 model names?

The 2017 production schedule was released months ago. My guess is they were not ready to release the details on the 330i (and others) so they left the 2016 names as place holders.

It is very possible. Don't forget that they kept changing their minds on when they were going to start building the new engines for the U.S. market. They didn't finally decide that they would not build the 2017 328i, 428i and 435i until very recently. They have not yet published a revised production schedule, as Tim posted above. He's still waiting on that. Maybe it will come by the end of this week?

Thank you, Tim!! Any idea when the first day of 330i production will be, given that the spreadsheet shows 07/16 for a "328i"?

Looks like MSRP went up by only $100 and most options/option pricing are unchanged from 2016.

Edited: too bad the increased residuals for 2016s don't apply for 2017...

The 330i pricing doc shows the start of production (SOP) as 7/16 for the German built 330s and 8/16 for the South African.

Well, at least they sent you the pricing and ordering guides showing what they intend to build for the U.S. Maybe one of these days they will published an updated production schedule or maybe they just won't bother. Thanks for keeping us informed.

I'm interested in a 2017 X3 and due to the configuration I'm looking for, I'm likely going to place an order (and potentially do PCD). If I do PCD, can I place an order with any dealer in the country? I haven't been impressed with the dealers around DC so I thought I'd try a SoCal dealer.

Yes, but choose wisely. You want a dealer experienced in doing business with out-of-state customers so that your paperwork and DMV registration work will be handled properly. That's very important. There is a forum on Bimmerfest devoted to comments by Bimmerfesters about their experiences with various client advisors around the country: https://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=50

Don't forget to tell the client advisor that you are a member of Bimmerfest and you read about him/her here. Don't broadcast the same email to a dozen different client advisors saying "send me your lowest possible price on such and such." That's a waste of time. You have to make personal contact and engage the client advisor of your choice in a serious discussion of your needs and his particular situation on that model at that time.

In other words, sometimes getting the absolute lowest possible price doesn't end up being the best deal in the long run. Far better to get a fair deal from an experienced client advisor who won't over-promise or give you information that is incorrect. You don't want to receive an email or phone call four weeks after you thought you had an order entered into the system telling you that the dealer is still waiting for an available allocation for your order. That is not likely on a 2017 X3 but often happens on an M3 or M4 and M2's are few and far between.

Hi Tim - Some confusion here on my part. The MY2017 Pricing & Ordering Guides show the 4 series with 430i and 440i models. However, the 2017 Production SOP & EOP Schedule shows the old 428i and 435i models, not the new 430i and 440i models. On one hand it looks like we will get the new 4 series in 2017, on the other hand it looks like the old models only for 2017. Can you shed some light on this?

The production schedule was published before BMW wanted to release the details on the 430/440 so the schedule had intentionally false information. So far BMW hasn't bothered to update the product schedule and probably won't. It's not their style.

At least in the case of the X1 the BMW web site shows MSRP $35,100 vs Price Guide $34,800; Metallic paint $700 vs Price Guide $550. Is there an updated Price Guide that I have missed?

I completely understand what person was suggesting. However, I previously attempted to search, as I always do first before asking, and found nothing.

The prices were increased August 1st, dealers were given the heads up July 29th. I haven't gotten new pricing sheets yet, the details I do have are here -
