BMW would not care about that. Not a single car leaves production line without buyer's name and ordered configuration attached to it - be it "Penske Springfield BMW" or "John Snow".

OP, do you know that you can order your BMW from any dealer in the country and have it delivered to BMW Performance Center (East or West)? Check the link "Site Sponsors" on the top of the window and reach out to some of them.

I would also ask the question in Ask-a-dealer forum here.

Best of luck and NEVER settle when paying $60k. As a matter of fact, don't settle even when paying $100 or less. Get exactly what you want.

Yes indeed. Thanks for the Ask-a-dealer suggestion and BMW Performance Center as well.

Ok, now I have been told that the Purple Silk color was available a few years ago only on FULL M cars (M3, M4, M5, etc.).

BUT, on the Individual Visualizer web page if you select 2020 M340i, it lists that color as an option. And if you select it, the pictured car rendering changes color. If it was not available shouldn't it display an error or not available or something?

Very odd. I am trying to get clarification from BMW NA Genius group email. If this is a no-go they REALLY need to clarify and update the Visualizer web page.

There is no production halt.

There is this disclaimer on the Visualizer page:

The BMW Individual Manufaktur Visualizer serves as a visualization aid. The presented content of the online and print version may differ from the exact appearance of the vehicle. Furthermore, some shown content may only be confirmed subject to a feasibility check by BMW M GmbH.

So right away they have told you just because you can pick it on the page doesn't mean we will make it for you. There is no need to 'fix' the page.

Then I found this:

Ordering Individual Paint

If true, very few dealers have a clue how to do this. Even if you find a dealer who knows how and the factory authorizes your color choice, you may find the cost is prohibitive. Unless paying $10,000+ for a custom color on a $60,000 car is OK.

Hmmmm. I was aware the colors had to be approved. I assumed that was for availability and manufacture....didn't think they would list colors you simply cannot get on the selected car. Oh well.
Yes, it is a $5100 paint job, I am aware of that so no big deal. We will see what we decide on paint.....now if we can just find a dealership that can order a car! LOL

Where are you located? If you indicated that, I missed i.t

I believe you were given some bad advice on the Performance Center Delivery, as I believe delivery is only available in South Carolina, not at the one in Thermal. But I could be wrong.

It would be hugely good karma to order from Jon Shafer, the founder of Bimmerfest. Jon was out of the business for a couple years due to back issues, and has just returned to work. If anyone can find a way to get you the car you want, it's Jon. His contact info will be on the Ask-a-Dealer forum.

The other terrific resource is Greg Poland. You should also find his info on Ask-a-Dealer. Though Greg is extremely busy; his business model is a high volume of enthusiast orders, low prices (which he makes up for in volume). So he might pass on a time-intensive Individual Manufaktur order.

I have my own CA (actually GSM) researching an Individual Atlantis order for me now. Will let you know what I learn.

Thanks.
We are in North Florida. We are seriously considering the Performance center delivery no matter who orders for us.
Thank you for the contact suggestions. Yes, Jon replied to my post in the Ask-A-Dealer forum so I look forward to seeing what information he can find out.

Currently trying to get approval on a couple other color choices. Mora Metallic (369), or Peridot Green Metallic (W81). Will update if we get a go ahead.

Correct and that ties to my point. If dealers or buyers who order from the factory are not placing orders to the point where production should be slowed down or stopped temporarily, they would do so. I've also heard of production being halted for re-tooling. It's not a BMW concept, all the brands do it.

Also, if there was a production stoppage ygulden or some other insider would have posted about it by now as well as other buyers would be reporting the same information from their dealerships. So far this is the only post on here or on Bimmerpost that has reported a dealer telling this. In the fourteen years I've been active on BMW forums BMWAG has not once completely halted production for any reason, much less that they were "out of chassis". I think it's much more likely this particular dealer is either out of M340i allocations or doesn't want to be bothered with an Individual order.

Good points. I agree with them potentially not wanting to deal with an individual order....

Just struck Gold. BMW NA sent a letter to the sales rep saying several of our color choices would be available and BMW is setting aside the 5th week of 2020 for special orders. Now to make a few final choices on build.
Will update when we finalize details, put a deposit in, and place the order!!!

No good yet. The lease terms are too high. With $2500 down they want $840 a month on a $64,881.99 sale price I see people getting 1%-1.1% of sale price lease terms. Maybe I just don't realize they are putting down $15k?

Have you factored in that the premium paid for the special paint and/or interior will add ZERO to the residual/resale value?

Yes, I know that. But I saw a member here or on bummerpost that ordered a serial paint M340i in New York with a similar $64000 sale price and $2000 down and they are paying $610 a month.

Do you know if BMW has reinstated Multiple security deposits? Have that on my lease & they fully refundable deposits are used to cut the interest rate.

My 2018 440 was $63,000 MSRP & with $5000 in MSD & other discounts monthly is $625. You should be aware that residuals & rates move around. My 2014 similar MSRP was in the upper $500 range.

I am not sure but I think they are active. Did you use the MSDs only? Or MSDs on top of a down payment?
I would have ordered right away if they told me $3000-$3500 down and $650 a month.

Here is the documentation that I was given. With $2500 down, 61% residual, and what is supposed to be the current money factor of 0.00128 I get @$641.81 per month.
Is there something I have incorrect maybe?

Was $2000 down & $5000 in MSD. Also did well on discounts & Port Install on the MPPSK. With the Corvettes I am interested in 2+ years out will most likely look at an M4 or Z4 lease for a filler.

Current lease in done in June & would look to a 2020 model M4 as the G series front end hurts my eyes.

BTW checked my Direct payment charges & its actually "ELECTRONIC/ACH DEBIT BMWFINANCIAL SVS BMWFS PYMT Withdrawals:-$624.00"

Just got a follow up email from the original dealership in Tallahassee, FL. [email protected] is the client advisor/genius:

We don't know yet. Many variables to consider.

No thanks. I will look into other options.

<[email protected]> wrote:12:52 PM (1 hour ago)
Just wanted to reach out and tell you that production is still paused for European build M340ís which is where individual paint cars are builtÖ However, there are North American M340ís available if you are willing to explore other color options that are within the color pallet. Please let me know if this is an option for you.

<[email protected]> wrote: Tue. Nov. 5th
Canít place an order at this timeÖ There are plenty available from other dealers just not in the color you are looking for. I canít say for sure when production will pick back up but as soon as I know I will let you know. If you would like to explore a different color option, I would love to find it for you and make it yours.

<[email protected]> wrote: Tue. Nov. 5th
So can we not place an order?
Do you have any information as to when there will be chassis available for new 340 orders?

<[email protected]> wrote: Mon. Nov. 4th
That is fine. We are aware it may take 6 months.
We would only entertain a different color if the Purple Silk is not available.

<[email protected]> wrote: Mon. Nov. 4th
Working on getting the allocationÖ Would you consider a different color? It looks like BMW isnít building M340iís at the moment and we arenít sure when the next production cycle will begin for that vehicle.

Well, he is either telling the truth or he is lying. Is this the same guy who previously told you the plant would be building Individual cars in 2020 Week 5? If so, is he blowing smoke up your nose because he has a financial incentive to close the deal before 12/31/2019?

Rather than spending the time to share the exchange with us, have you reached out to Jon Shafer? That would give you a 100% reliable answer, instead of asking conjecture from a bunch of strangers on the internet.

I did reach out to Jon and forwarded this email exchange to him. He said unfortunately Individual orders can be a hassle and some dealerships/client advisors do not want to deal with them.

No, this exchange is the person who originally told me that 3 series production halted in November and they will likely not restart until the next model [email protected] 2020.

And I have the email from BMWUSA, the Regional Sales Rep, and the current Client Advisor stating special order production is reserved for the 5th week of 2020. The current CA seems much more open to a custom order. So unless another online contact can offer better numbers we will go with the dealership in Ft. Walton Beach.
