7 Series - E65 / E66 (2002 - 2008)
Discussion of BMW's 4th generation E65/E66 7 Series flagship. The E65 generated much controversy, due to its radical styling and iDrive user difficulties. Nonetheless, the E65 broke records to become the best-selling 7-series iteration ever, especially after its 2005 facelift.

Please Help or Advise! Random Crank, No Start Issue!

To start off, I have a 2002 745LI. I have read the many "crank, no start" posts on here about the IVM module or the SBSR module.

I am having this problem. If I sit and wait 15 minutes, 30 minutes, or sometimes hours, it will start with no problem. BMW Service have replaced the starter, the IVM module, and now the fuel pump and I still have the problem. I have suggested it may be the SBSR module, but the mechanic keeps saying it is fine.

What code would the SBSR module be sending if it is the cause?
I have a Foxwell scanner (not really familiar with using it), what code should I look for? How can I pinpoint the cause of this problem if it's the SBSR module?
I have had this problem for over a year now and it is driving me crazy!!!!

Please help!
DJKeithB

Thanks very much Inspi for your reply. Can you explain it to me, so I can convince the BMW service mechanic to change the SBSR?
