K&N Performance Air Filter

So i had a K&N performance high flow liftime air filter put in the "Raider". What gains do you think I got from this? any power or fuel savings?

Nothing but lessor filtration.

Did you just swap the air filter or complete air intake assembly? If just the air filter, then K&N makes very good filters. Just changing the filter will not do much for performance, however.

Plus you get a nifty little K&N sticker.

And everyone knows this particular sticker is worth at least 12 torques on the gluteus dynomaximus

OP, if there were ANY real benefits gained from a simple drop-in filter, don't you think every car out there would cost $20 more and have one from the factory?

I understand you are curious for information, but you have to think before you ask.

Isnt their many things that would make more sense to be put in the car from the factory? Like an alarm system on 325s? are alarm system not affective becuase the factory doesnt put them in them? Is real leather crap? is that why all our 3s have leatherete? There is little things they can add but they dont do to cost, say they spend 20 bucks on a better air filter, think they manufacture lets say 300,000 cars with that filters, thats 6,000,000. And also the fact that they charge people to replace those paper stock filters, it's not becuase theyre ineffective. There is other reasons. So before you say something think about it first

I am not here to school you on spelling/context, that's your parents' responsibility, but it's hard to understand what you are trying to say here.

K&N Performance Air Filter

BMWs won't gain any significance performance out of it.

On the other hand, if you are one of those Honda Civic people, in their perspective, changing the air filter will gain 50 HP Alone.

Are you kidding me? Do you know how much more expensive real leather is than vinyl? Do you know how expensive it is to wire the car for the alarm system and to install all the sensors and electronics and immobilization? And you are comparing those to a $20 filter?

And, by the way, my car has real leather.

If you need a reminder, stop by the E39 forum for a spell.

Down there, it's all about bling, mods, spacers, 19" wheels and belly dragging drops.

Sad...truly sad. Maybe we'd see less of that if it hadn't been 30 years since GM built a sedan that looks good as a lowrider.

No reminder needed. I still remember how great it was to get my first car and the ability to cruise the freedom highway.

If not for these current 16 year olds with interest in cars, the term "car enthusiast" would be but a footnote in history for future generations. I've read that a majority of this new generation are already more into texting than they are into cars. For those budding car enthusiasts like the OP, I definitely want to encourage them in their pursuits, as well as caution them to be safe out there.

I doubt that would help. "Stancing" seems to be a JDM thing, and the kids who stance their Bimmers are just stepping up from JDM cars to something a little more classy as used Bimmers become more affordable.

Big plus: A number of our students had BMW 3 series. Yes! Some may be participants here, or have been. I believe Bimmerfest is strongly associated with private education, indeed the best behaved 16 yr olds doubtless are private school students.

Yeah it's best to ignore decades of science because it doesn't fit with your personal anecdotes.
