Recommended wheel cleaner for 2015 228i coupe

I have a 2015 228i coupe with the track handling and sport line packages. I'm confused by all the wheel cleaners and their warning labels. I don't want to use the wrong wheel cleaner. What are my wheels made of and what is a good safe wheel cleaner for them? So much wheel dust! Thank you.

Almost any of them will do. If you are concerned about damage to the wheel, just use soap and water. I am using Griot's wheel cleaner now.

Treat the wheels like you treat the paint on the body. But, have a dedicated mitt, bucket, and towels for the wheels, tires, and underbody. That prevents brake dust and grit from under the car from getting to the paint on the body.

Keep a good coat of wax on them. That will make them easy to clean. You also need to wax your brake calipers. You can wash the wheels in between car washes. Let the brakes cool first, though. Don't drive into the driveway and hose off the wheels (and hot brake rotors) right away.

Naming your car after a drug kingpin. I like it.

I love a four-cylinder F22 with the good tires and brakes. It's the 21st century version of the BMW E10 (2002), and it's the last new BMW you'll ever get with a manual transmission for under $50k. If I could only have one car, that'd be it.

Thanks, Autoputzer and southcoastguy for your valuable input.

I went to Autozone and asked them for "+1" for my BMW wheels, and they looked at me funny. I'll try Walmart.

Frau Putzer "re-appropriated" a bunch of these from the hospital. They're great for getting in behind the spokes and for washing the calipers. They're cheap to by, but only available in large quantities.

The two best wheel cleaners that I have found, bar none, are Sonax Full Effect and Iron X by CarPro. Both work great. Of the two I prefer Iron X since it doesn't take an entire bottle to clean 4 wheels. The sonax throws a lot of cleaner out so it's difficult to not use too much. Iron X puts out a fine mist that doesn't use too much. Most other products are just watered down versions of these.

Several years ago I used Eagle On A2Z wheel and tire cleaner. It worked fairly well. Just bought a new bottle of the same stuff and it doesn't work as well.

Stick with Sonax or Iron X.

Thanks! I ordered Eagle One A2Z All Wheel and Tire Cleaner. Seems to be highly rated. Uh oh! Doesn't work as well as before? If it doesn't get the job done, crazy4trains, I will buy Sonax or Iron X. Compared to what the BMW cost me, the outlay for another wheel cleaner should not put me in the poor house.
