E63 / E64 6 Series (2004 - 2010)
The E63/E64 BMW 6 Series builds on BMW's sporty heritage with aggressive lines and an incredible motor to back the design up. Available in coupe and convertible trims with a standard 4.8 liter engine producing 360 horsepower and 360 lb-ft of torque, the 6-series is a popular choice that exceeds expectations.

NAV Update for 2010 650i?

Hello all, new member here, and proud "new" 2010 650i Convertible owner!!
The nav software in the car is apparently the original, as it shows a 2010 version.
I've tried to update the software by downloading an update from BMW to the USB adapter but it doesn't do anything?
There is no "update software" selection on the nav screen to pick from.
Any suggestions on how to do this please?
Steve

I'm thinking the "update" I downloaded from the BMW website isn't for the nav at all, but for something else... It was only a small file.
I've seen nav updates on line from $39.95 to $115.00 and I'm not sure what the difference is?
One from bimmermap.com is $39.95 and includes a FSC code for a 2020 map. Has anyone used this site?

I have not used them but the need for the FSC code is real. They should need your VIN to generate it.
It will take a USB (or several) and 30-60 minutes to do the update. With the 2010 you have a CIC and it uses the USB in the glove box for programing.

Make sure it's for the CIC not the CCC.

PM me. If you want to take a drive north I may be able to help.

I have the 2010 Premium update currently.
Just not sure if there is any difference between sellers other than charging 3x more?

If you look around online I am sure you could find a copy. Ebay will probably be the cheapest source. Don't expect a whole lot of changes in the update, so don't pay to much! A 2010 650 is about the best pick you could have made for our body style.

Does anyone know how I can definitively know which version of Nav I have? CIC with DVD? CIC with USB? Trying to determine which update to order.
My 650i was built 03/2010 and has iDrive as well as the aux usb plugs in the console and glove box.
The current Nav version screen, which I assume has never been updated since the factory, says the version is "Premium 2010".
All this makes it seem like I must have the CIC usb download Nav, but the screwy thing is the owner's manual says it takes a DVD to update?

Go to the link below & enter your last 7 digits of the vin number. Once entered it will show you the options the car had when it was built.

That should be the CIC which would fit with your model year however, to be certain which screen do you see https://mca.electricmura.ro/en/blog-...or-nbt-idrive/.

I have the same CIC that I upgraded to. It is a CIC and same as in the 5 series. It updates via a USB in the glove box, not via a DVD.

The manual may not be updated for that year as it was a bit of a hybrid before the F series body change. It was the only year the CIC was sold in the 6 series in the US.
You may also need an FSC code to validate the install.
