How long does it take for your order to show up on the BMW tracking website?

I submitted my order on 3/3 and they told me it would be part of April production. I am still seeing this:

Anyone know how long till I see my Sapphire Black car there?

Andy, we are in the same boat. We ordered our 335i on February 22, and received a production number the same day. It still doesn't show up on bmwusa.com. I am already registered on the site because we have a 535i, so I click on the "enter a new vehicle" area, enter the number, but nothing!

We ordered a Mini Cooper last year, and were able to track it within about a week of ordering.

I ordered my 328i sport on 3/1 and by 3/5 the website showed it as In Production. Perhaps it is just the car configuration or dealer allocations that are causing the delay for you guys?

As soon as I received the order number from the dealer, the car showed up on My BMW. The correct picture with listed options didn't appear until production started, though, which in my case was almost a month after the order was placed. My order was placed on Dec 10, production started on Jan 12 and I picked up the car on Feb 18.

I wouldn't rely to much on that tracking site, quite a few times they give you wrong options as well as where the car is,this is very common. I took delivery of my 535 and 3 months later on there site it was still in process. Good luck
cheers

I just took your advice and called the 800 number. It told me that the car is scheduled for production with no production date as of now. Oh well, it is what it is, and there's nothing I can do about it!

Also, talk to the live customer service because the automated is also behind some time. It took me almost a week before the production start.

Your dealer can access DCS and tell you what production week your car is scheduled for production.

I got a bit more information today on our order. Our salesperson says that our car is scheduled for production the first week of April. We ordered on 2/22, so about six weeks from order day to production week.

I ordered my 328i 3 weeks ago and my salesman told me it won't go into production until the beginning of April and I built it only as a base model with the navigation package. Why is that? Helppppp

I think if you switch to the south Africa plant it will be faster. Germany plant is backed up.

Man, your dealer really didn't pull any strings for you. Dealers have an allotted amount of cars they can order from BMW every month/week. They call em "February allocation" or "week XX allocation". If they don't have anymore allocations for, lets say, a 335, then they can pull some strings and call up other dealers to trade an X5 allocation for a 335. It's common practice among the dealers... and not difficult to do at all. Seems like they just saw you as a patient person and figured you can wait till April while they use their allocations on more impatient buyers like me.

** The week allocations go according to their annual week number. For example Week 1 allocation means production will start some time during the week of January 1-7.

This BMW will be the fifth that my husband and I have bought from our salesperson, and I'm pretty sure he considers us valuable customers. I do think he would classify us as "patient"! I drive a 2011 535i, so I'm not being too inconvenienced.

We did order Glacier Silver. Perhaps the color has something to do with the delay in production? I'm just guessing.

Glacier Silver shouldn't have been an issue. It was in the first round of colors. But even if you picked one of the 2nd round colors (like Mineral White), they could've still gotten you a March allocation as all the available colors came online in the beginning of March.

It seems like the salesman knows you will be loyal since you've already purchased 4 from him. So he might've kept the allocation cards in his pocket for some other fresh meat.

Another scenario might be that the internet sales and floor sales are different. Perhaps salesmen on the floor don't get access to the allocations that the internet sales do. Can anyone confirm this?

I contacted the dealer thru the internet, made an appointment, walked into the dealer, and they jumped through hoops to get me an allocation immediately.

You are correct this can be done, but for a F30 335i it may be more difficult. 335i allocations seem to be very constrained. My dealer had one allocated in February (which I took), zero in March and one in April. So other dealers may not even have any 335i allocations to trade.

Seems like your one of the few that knows what they are talking about. When I ordered my F30 the dealer didn't have any allocations so he got one from another dealer. Three days later I had a production #.15 days later they started building my car,6 days it took to build and then it was transported to where ever to be picked up at the Welt5/14.
cheers

This car just launched in Feb, and I'm sure there is a backlog already. I'm not supprise if you aren't going to get a production date till April or May. I ordered my Glacier Silver around the end of Jan, and I will be picking up this weekend. It took me about 7 weeks even I ordered my fairly early.

This thread is disheartening. I just placed my 335i order on Saturday 3/10. My CA said that they had no open production slots but he should be able to locate one from another dealer for me by Wednesday (yesterday). He told me to give him a call mid week if I didn't hear from him. I called and he said that he still hasn't found me one yet, but they should get more allocations during the 3rd or 4th week of this month. I sort of know the guy (we've met a few times at social functions before I even decided to buy a BMW) so hopefully he's not giving me the runaround. Either way I can wait if it ends up going into production in mid to late April, but i prefer instant gratification!

We did get a production number right away, so I guess our salesperson used an allocated build. We also have to wait for the long trip through the Panama Canal, so it doesn't look like we will see the car for quite a while.
