Thanks, sounds like a simple upgrade solution, although the better woofs sound like a must to provide the necessary fill to drown out road and wind noise. Going to check it out. Thanks guys, this is a really informative thread.

Is the Hi-Fi system the standard system not the HK, correct?

This is the install of a XD600/6 in an F30 in 6 steps:

1) Wire HiFi harness to XD600/6 (Front CH1/2 at 175Hz HP, Rear CH3/4 at 175Hz HP, Woofers CH5/6 at 175Hz LP, Input mode to 4CH, no center channel power):

2) Remove OEM amp:

3) Ground connection:

4) XD6000/6 with pre-installed HiFi harness plugged into OEM amp harness:

5) Connect to battery (most F30 lack available distribution block slots):

6) Put trunk back to OEM and enjoy...

Do it!
I HATED the stock system, this upgrade makes it quite livable and I'll be carrying it over to the eventual 228i in a few years time since the HK upgrade there really isn't a full system due to space constraints.

For people upgrading to the XD600/6 AND adding a trunk sub + amp. What should the LP/HP filter be for CH5&6 that is connected to the underseat subs?

Is it possible to add a subwoofer in the trunk with this setup with the base Hi-Fi system? I have 2 12JLW6 subs in a sealed box i would like to use. Would this method work?

Does anyone see any issues to perform the XD500/6 install in a wagon?

Thanks!

6-steps reduced to 1-step: the BimmerTech PP82DSP 100% PnP HiFi OEM amp replacement:

- 140W max at 2ohms (HiFi OEM speakers are 2ohms)
- Full 8ch DSP, with time alignment, active crossovers and parametric EQ
- Unplug OEM amp, plug PP82DSP in, no battery connection at all
- mounts in OEM amp bracket

Mic is dropped...

Very cool. It certainly would have been an option for me if I hadn't pulled the trigger on the XD800/8 two months ago. The DSP might have taken care of my complaint about the system being too harsh! I don't see it on the BimmerTech website, so I am assuming this is one of the first announcements being made.

What do you mean by "mic is dropped" though? The mic used for voice-calls, voice commands is lost because of this?

Urban dictionary -mic drop

When a performer or speaker intentionally drops/throws the microphone on the floor after an awesome performance.

Very cool Technic. Any idea of the price? It's not on BimmerTech's website or I couldn't find it.

Very cool so roughly a 5 minute job... How will this work with aftermarket speakers?
