X6 E71 / E72 (2008 - 2014)
The BMW X6 luxury crossover went on sale in April 2008 as a 2009 model year. BMW referes to the X6 as a Sports Activity Coupe (SAC) as it combines the attributes of an SUV (high ground clearance, xDrive and all-weather ability) with the stance, styling and roof line shape of a coupe. The E71 X6 was built off the E70 X5 (2007 - 2013) platform at BMW's Spartanburg, SC plant. Total worldwide sales were just over 235,000, sold mostly to the BRIC countries. US total sales was 34,082 vehicles.

We have a 2011 X6 3.0 with more than 60,000 miles on it. The dealership just replaced injectors at no cost to us, and we had some suspension work done a couple of years ago, probably damage/wear caused by the cement curb/entrance at the end of our driveway.

Currently have lots of peeling interior trim (door handle area, steering wheel control area, iDrive control knob, etc.),

Other than those issues it has been a fantastic car, MUCH better than our 2011 Ford Explorer LTD which has already had over $3,000 in out-of-pocket repairs with plenty of worrisome noises/vibrations indicating future problems.

I have 2013 X6 have owned it for 8 months been in the shop more than I get to drive it. When it runs it fun to drive, but when its in the repair shop its expensive.

I had 2009 Nissan Altima for 7 years and had one repair to deal with it!

Hello

I like these car very much because of the body shape.I live in Norway and these cars cost like a apartment in USA.Along with the e36, e34, e39, e87 this car have some stupid faults.
The upholstery is not up to MB or Audi class.Rattles form cheap plastic dont belong here in this class. Also doors who dont have any noise protection fra rumble noise.
Engine is av juvel but its leaking oil from oil cooler. The problem are now fixed.

There also been many problems with electrical steering and water pump.

The car is like having a very expensive woman with luxury taste when you only have a normal income.

The admin can take away last sentence if this is wrong to this forum.

Regards Norway

I'm sorry, but as the Bang Class Action Settlement has proven, any car with the 4.4L twin turbo engine is like a stick of dynamite waiting to explode, taking the car, your sanity and all your money with it. I loved the design of the car. It was massively overpowered, had good handling, was a real head turner, etc. And then reality set it. I lost count of all the money I put into this car. I paid around 70k and the car was at the dealers about 6 months or so in the first three years. I then spent 16k of my money on repairs with BMW refunding me about 4,200 for my third set of fuel injectors. Then it started using oil, lots of oil. Then the class action suit was settled and I thought I would get relief. I was told to wait. After going back and forth with BMW, I received a call telling me to bring my car in for:

The following services have been selected for this appointment:
Repair Services: Tell Us More - N63 CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT REPAIR
Recall Services: Mfr Campaign/Safety Recall Notice:0032350200 -CampaignId:16V-071ManufacturerCampaignId:0032350200 B650416 Recall: Driver&apos:s Front Air Bag
Mfr Campaign/Safety Recall Notice:0072680100 -CampaignId:16V-364ManufacturerCampaignId:0072680100 B651916 Recall Front Passenger Air Bag
Mfr Campaign/Safety Recall Notice:0016150200 -CampaignId:16V-746ManufacturerCampaignId:0016150200 B160416 Recall Fuel Pump

The first line said, N63 class action lawsuit repair. Documented in their note to me. It doesn't say evaluation, etc. It reads, "repair". So I spent $500 on insurance and registration as I had it on non-op. So BMW got another $500 from me.

This is what will happen if you own a large engine BMW out of warranty. I was warned by the Sonnen BMW service manager, Todd, that this would happen and it did! By the way, I complained to the GM of the dealership after Todd's comments and Todd continued to dig a hole. He just went on and on about the problems with the larger V8 engines. I was shocked!

Jerry

The rest were all maintenance-related.

Add the front driveshaft as part of a recall in 2018, and the oil-filter gasket at the same time.
Oh, and I found a tiny bit of plastic in the oil when draining it either 2018 or 2017, not sure when exactly. The BMW tech believes it's from the chain guide but the dealer said that if they tore it down and found nothing, I'd be footing the bill @ around $1k US.

Extended warranty ends mid-March. I think I'll bring it in and have them tear it down to confirm.

PS: Another reason to not do oil changes thru the dipstick
