F22 / F23 2 Series (2014 - Current)
The 2 Series coupe is the replacement for the E82/E88 1 series coupe. Production starts in November 2013 on the 228i (N20) and M235i (N55) coupes. Look for them in dealerships in February 2014. The convertible F23 2 series will follow in the fall of 2014.

New 2018 M240xi 'vert! What's a good offer?

Hi all,

I spotted a brand new 2018 M240xi Convertible, loaded, on a dealer lot. Their first offer to me was $48200 (off a $60200 MSRP). They are motivated to get rid of the car.

What should be a good counter-offer? 48k is still too rich for a car which is two models behind at this point.

Thanks.

Bare in mind, this car is actually a two seater, the rear seats of the one convertible are useless... If you want a proper 4-seater convertible, get a 3er, if you need just two, get a Z4. Both also look better than the car you're looking at and both have a real tin top.

And both are a lot more expensive and the Z4 has no xdrive
Rear seats are great bag storage and work for one passenger for short trips
Looking better? The old Z4? No way!
If you get the M240 take out the rear headrests and it will look a lot better

You do realise the life cycle of each model is 7 years?

I think you should go for the 2017 car you talked about in your other thread...better deal, someone else took the hit for depreciation.

Kelly Blue Book's site will give you a range of prices for the car you were offered. Have you looked at that? Also, you plan to keep the car only one year. That adds more to your cost than you can possibly save by negotiating the price. Is there any other alternative for you? Private sales are risky, but if you have a mechanic that would go over the car first, and if you are willing to sell it yourself privately, you would do better than buying retail from a dealer and then selling it back wholesale a year later.
