F22 / F23 2 Series (2014 - Current)
The 2 Series coupe is the replacement for the E82/E88 1 series coupe. Production starts in November 2013 on the 228i (N20) and M235i (N55) coupes. Look for them in dealerships in February 2014. The convertible F23 2 series will follow in the fall of 2014.

Black Kidney Grille vs Chrome tipped

Took me few months to regret not ordering the black grills. I have M Sports pkg on my 2018 230i and I think will look much better with black. Surprised not part of the M sports package. In my view, the chrome trimmed grills look out of place on this sporty vehicle. I have them on order from local BMW dealer for $60 each.

Found local German place that will install for $55; sounds like good value to me. Local NJ BMW dealer quoted me $170 (1 hour labor); they are nuts for 20 minute job

This was an order option for the 2018 (and possibly earlier) but unfortunately was taken off the order form for the 2019 or I would have added these to my build order. My recollection for this port installed option was $200 and on our last tour visit to the VPC at Oxnard, CA, it took the employee all of 1 minute to install both grills - they would use a pair of heavy gardening clippers, cut off the grills, reach in to release the grills and pop in the new black grills. Any parts taken off and replaced at the VPC are destroyed to prevent being sold on eBay, it was painful to watch truthfully

Thx, was a $200 or 210 option at time I ordered my 2018 but I missed it. Will only cost me ~ $175 now so no issue. Local BMW parts dept took 25% off parts cost and i pick up this Tuesday

Blacks grills look 100% sportier; BMW should make them std now vs the ugly chrome trim

Ah, so sorry, I didn't read carefully enough to see you had purchased them, I would not have posted. I'm quite sure they look much more professional and polished than mine do.

Yes, direct from BMW dealer

Getting installed Wednesday, these chrome trimmed ones look more dated every day

Picked up the black grills at dealer early this morning. Saw some of the 2020 larger BMWs with the fugly new kidney grills. Look awful in my opinion

Also, feel BMW should make blacked out grills for all 2-4 series cars, look much sportier

+1, and while we're on "don't likes", wish they kept the angel halo lights, don't like the under-eyelids leds or lack of a proper handbrake.

Yeah, debated whether to or not when ordering my 2017. I did opt for the black @ a $300 up-charge on the order sheet

Before & after pix; love the black vs. the chrome. Local shop stated almost 45 mins because had to take part of bumper cover off + were extra careful not to scratch anything

I think the chrome looks way better with the lights on your car. It works blacking out light colour cars, not feeling it this time, sorry!

Black Kidney Grille vs Chrome tipped

No worry, we all have different tastes. In my view, Chrome doesnít belong on BMW 2 series; maybe the larger BMW models or the SUVs.

I do see what you mean about the lights, itís why I didnít do this a year ago. I kinda like it, but like the black better

I also chose the the black grilles as an upgrade option.
Also the CF mirror caps.

I think you can do it yourself. They just snap out and you snap the new ones in. Nothing fancy. IMO, the BMW dealer could do it for free in 5 minutes.

I looked on a YouTube video on how to remove BMW kidney grilles. Removed mine to add on after market M-sport logo.
Pretty easy, helps if you have small hands. Lol

I was nervous trying on my own. So I paid a lousy $55 to a local Germany shop. Who cares, they are installed now & look great

Yeah - that won't happen! They're easy to rip out if you don't mind breaking a clip or two. Doing it properly requires a tool to reach the clips or releasing the bumper cover for better access.
