And you will not want to sell your 6WA. If you retrofit 6WB, you will need to swap 6WA back in for any dealer service that involves ISTA/P programming.

I retrofitted mine, and its no big deal. I can swap clusters in under 5 minutes.
Good to know - not sure if it is work $2k since I will have 6WA. If I had the standard it would be a no brainer.

The MFID is amazing...

Agreed, and I have written such.

I don't have 610 HUD, so I had only basic Kombi to start with. But, if I had 6WA to start with, I would not have retrofitted 6WB.

Shawn..

Is it just swapping the cluster and VO Coding the Kombi enough?

As i understood, the best is to use a NEW one. Due to the mileage which is already on the cluster, right?

Thx

If it is new, then yes. Install Kombi, inject CAFD, and Code.

Then you need to first also blank VIN and Mileage in EEPROM with an EEPROM Programmer, and then Flash Kombi to write car VIN to it.

No, they wont do it. Dealers will only do official BMW retrofits, and there is no official 6WB retrofit. And even if they could, they would NEVER do it with a used module.

From what you have seen is the mileage stored elsewhere in the car? Just curious as to what would stop folks from flashing the cluster to reset mileage. Of course it is illegal, however, I would think that there would be somewhere else more secure that this data would be stored.

Yes. It is stored in CAS, and whichever one, Kombi or CAS has higher mileage in it, it pushes the higher mileage to the other one.

Is this also true for a retrofitted NBT, or is the cluster a special case?

Same holds true. When they pull your factory VO from server, it isn't going to match the car's hardware, and ISTA/P is not going to like it.

You should get a used cluster with less mileage if at all posssible. However, doing so doesn't change anything with the Dealer. They are not going to touch a Kombi retrofit, new or used, and if used, regardless of mileage.

Shawn, would you know why the 6WB is showing that service is past due and needs break fluid and oil change but the 6WA isn't. The car was just in service with 6WA installed, when I got it back I put 6WB back in but now it's saying I need service again. I don't really care, but the issue is that it's sending a signal to the dealership telling them I need service.

The CBS records didn't update after 6WB went back in car. I am not sure why. Did you try VO Coding it again?

Yeah I did.

The weird thing is it was doing this before I went to service. They called me to come in because the car was telling them I needed service. I put 6wa back in brought the car to them and they were confused on why the car wasn't telling them it needed service anymore. I just played dumb.

They performed service, I got lucky and they flashed my whole car to 51.1, got the car back and just put 6WB in but it's still requesting service. I will mess with it more tomorrow. It's odd because it's saying service was due 11/2014, so there is a date off somewhere.

I think there is a way to sync CBS records with INPA, but I don't know it off the top of my head,

You may want to consider flashing 6WB now to 51.1 to match the car, which should also fix the issue.

I just vo coded it with a 11/13 fa date so that I could get the m sport edition hp reading in sport mode, and that seemed to take away the service request. I will flash kombi tomorrow though so that it's all on the same version.

Oh, that. I FDL Coded it when I first got my 6WB installed, but it didn't work.

If it works in 51.1, let me know.

It works for me on 51.1 but it's engine dependent. It should work with whatever engines allow you to have the power and torque meter on the idrive screen. It does show 0-480, I misread it the first time around I thought the 8 was a 0.
