TokenMaster: I just want to say thank you for creating and making available the CAFD Tool. It has helped me gain an understanding of coding and my car specifically.

I am new to this and have not found an answer to this question.

My question is about selecting the correct "Build Level" when using the tool. How does the user determine the correct build level for his/her car?

If you know when your car was built (you can also use online VIN decoder), you can select a build date that is close to that.

Note on the build date: It's only used to determine available options. There are options which are available only from a certain date (6WB, ZBE3...etc). In many cases, it's not that critical. For my 2012, I usually choose November 2013 build date

Read FA, and look at your Build Date, e.g. Zeitkriterium=0314 would be March 2014 Build Level.

Newbie question => Can this program be used to code different functions or is it used to see the code for different available functions which then can be used to code in PSdZData?

BTW, if you select an option, like 84S or 5AP, and don't see any affected items, check "Include Default" and try again.

I thought I'd exclude default options but now realized that the actual value may be different. I'll remove this option in the next version and have it return default values always.

TokenMaster,

Wow, this is absolutely terrific!!

Have installed this on my desktop and use it to help figuring out all of the intricacies behind coding these great automobiles.

Beaucoup THANKS!!

Dumb Question

TokenMaster or ShawnSheridan,

As I said above, this tool, along with E-Sys are absolutely superb!!

Have a really dumb question. Whenever I code my car or read & save the information in the various ECUs in the car, even though the entry in E-Sys (with the little green checkmark) is entitled a CAFD, when I save the file to my PC, it is saved as an NCD, albeit with CAFD as the preface to its name.

In this NCD-CAFD tool, there are several references to CAFD files, but can not figure out how to get these -- again, I do have NCDs.

Can someone help clear up my confusion

Thanks

Well, a Big DUH on my part -- since this is part of the data package, I looked in the Data directory and its PSDZData subdirectory and a little further down, was a CAFD subdirectory.

Yes, the CAFD are in ...\psdzdata\swe\cafd folder.

Upcoming Feature: Typschlussel

Typschlussel [sic] or Type Key also have significant effect on CAF, so it's but natural to add this into FA/SVT-CAFD section. Type Key contains information about your car, from drive type, to engine, to fuel type and number of cylinders. My type key is 3A57.

My initial idea is to let user enter the type key. This then will be decoded to individual options that users can select. But then, I thought most wouldn't know what it is, much less, where to find it. It's in your FA, by the way. So, I decided to list down all applicable Vehicle Profile Type instead. Useful?

Yes, but a Type Key setting for those that know would be useful too.

E-Sys itself can run under OSX natively but it relies on a Win32 library for all CAN communications, so it's a no-go if you want to connect to the car, unless the CAN library is ported to OSX-compatible format.

NCD / CAFD Tool V0.2.7 Alpha

Update: 9/8/2014 V0.2.7 Alpha
  • Added Type Key options to "What-If" feature
  • Minor bug fixes

This is a direct drop-in replacement. If you have customized settings, just replace the executable to keep your settings intact. Settings are kept in NcdCafdTool.exe.Config file.

Timur requested if Type Key can be added. And when I looked into it, it does affect CAF, so it's worth adding it.

Results are determined by a particular CAFD and not every option will have an effect on the selected CAFD. Don't select any options that obviously don't have any code associated to it, e.g. 130, 23B

Results are meant to be use as a guide only. They are by no means authoritative or definitive. Verify and use at your own risks.

Lastly, this tool is free. Never pay anything for this tool.

Rename to .zip NcdCafdTool_V0.2.7.zip.pdf
Alternate Download: Google Drive
