A muffler swap.

By doing a full custom exhaust (or even an off-the-shelf exhaust), you'll be spending lots of money for absolutely minimal power gains that you'll probably never actually notice.

Toss on a Magnaflow and call it a day.

Dinan is my go to.

Had Dinan S1 package on a R53 Mini Cooper S and that was a really fun car.
When the 330ci ran over a rock which damaged the exhaust, I went with Dinan again. If it had not been part of an insurance claim I would never have done it. I negotiated the lower cost of the Dinan muffler vs. cost of OEM as a waiver for my deductible. Sound difference vs stock is very subtle; if you know the 'normal' sound you know there is something special, but it's not obnoxious. Buttometer says there is zero performance gain, which I expected.
Exhaust only is a waste of money otherwise IMO. Spend the cash on fixing leaks and put in fresh VANOS seals as well. Not sexy, but better investment.
