Not sure if you're the same person I just responded to on another forum. In my opinion don't settle for 20". Get 21", you can just swap the tires and use the same rims. The Yoko 21" winter tires are amazing. Don't be discouraged, they aren't even out yet. Just call Tire Rack. Should be in stock shortly. One of the biggest reasons you got your car is because how amazing the 21" tires look...won't look as good with the 20". Just be patient!

Pick attached with my Yoko 21".

I opted for 21''. What are you running on the fronts since those are not available in 285/35/21? 295 maybe? if so any rubbing?

Spoke to Tirerack they will release 285 for the fronts this fall so I will be getting those for the winter set up!

Wait till they are available in the Fall. I got the same exact size as the summer tires your car comes with. Fit perfectly on my bmw rims. I think you can order them starting anyday now. Just keep calling Tire Rack. Don't deviate from the same size of your stock/summer tires.

On my OLD x6m I did that and the rim stuck out on the tire a little and was always getting dinged.

Just be patient

Are you looking to have the car look good or perform well in the winter? It's been pretty well proven that low sidewall winters are a bad choice for winter performance. You'd be better off with a different size rim and tire package. Plus, winter driving will ruin your "summer" rims.

I tried what you're suggesting on my e70 and the rims wound up pitted from the salt and the car felt slippery in the New England snow.
On my f15 I went with a dedicated bmw rim and snow/ice in a smaller diameter (bigger sidewall) and the car was a tank.

Thanks for sharing the 285 Yokos will be available.

I picked up my X5M last week, which came equipped with the black 612M, which I'm not a really big fan of, so I elected to use them for my winter setup. I purchased the silver 612M as my summer setup. I'm really looking forward to these 21" Yoko winters, as they come in the same stock summer sizes, and they are relatively cheap!! Hope they don't discontinue them, otherwise we are only left with the very expensive Pirelli RFT!

I have a set of Blizzaks with rims and factory BMW tire pressure monitors. around 5k miles total as I had a 3 mile commute to work daily. Located in Mass. Used on a 16' x5m with plenty of clearance.
