Cannot unlock sport auto trans with no power

I'm replacing the rear coolant cover on my 2010 550 with the sport automatic transmission. I need to rotate the driveshaft so I can loosen the bolts on the end of the trans. I removed the shifter bezel, put the screwdriver in the slot and pulled it back until is it locked in place. I get under the car and cannot rotate the driveshaft. I used my breaker bar on one of the bolt heads and trying to spin the driveshaft moved the car. I reconnected the battery thinking the transmission may need power to put the trans in neutral. The shifter is flashing N but I still cannot rotate the driveshaft. Am I missing something? Does the sport automatic transmission have another step for putting the trans in neutral? Is it the electronic shifting part that needs another step?

Thanks for the response twh. It made me realize that I forgot to fully lift the rear off the drive on lift. I started to lift it, got distracted by the wife and went back to work thinking I was ready to spin the driveshaft. Now I feel like an idiot for not even noticing I didn't finish jacking up the rear.

No shame there. The only people that haven't had an issue like that are those that never tried to do anything. There are no people on the planet that are successful that never made a mistake.

I know everyone forgets things once in a while. I'd say this was something simple, but most of mine always are. I don't want to forget them because I could do it again. My favorite idiot moment was converting to rear disk brakes on my Mustang. I removed the diff cover, removed the c-clips, pulled the axles, removed the drum backing plates and put everything back together. Then I went to bolt the rear calipers to their mounts and I forgot to bolt them to the axle tubes before putting everything together. So repeat and bolt the new brackets on before assembling. All of my friends got a laugh out of that one.
