If yours comes from the factory with 17" then your top speed will be limited to 130mph even if you have the sports package. Mine did and I can confirm that the limiter kicks in @ 130mph

Talking I don't have an xi, but the i real top speed is > 160mph.

My speed governer was deleted and the car goes to 160 in 5th gear in DS mode with 1000rpm before readline. The it keeps going, shifts into 6th, rpms drop then they start building up slowly towards readline, but the speedo remains pinned to 160. I don't know what the real number is but its over 170 for sure. Oh, and the car overheated. I have video will put up if I am able to clip it.

How did you get your speed limiter deleted?

dinan flash will do it, the procede and the AA xede will as well.

the former does it in software, the latter fake out the speed signal.

Dinan flash is out of the question for me (no oil cooler), and I don't want any of the "piggybacks". Is there a way to remove the limiter without messing with anything else?

You need the 18" wheels with the sport package to get the higher top speed limit on the 335xi.

Here is my 335xi sedan 2 weeks ago. Notice the speed above the 150 mark. I didn't push it to the speed governor, but it would have kicked in at 155.

+1. Many people miss this when they order the xi.

The limit is 150 mph. It is a "soft" limit though, so with your foot on the floor it will fluctuate between 148-153 indicated mph... note my avatar.

155 mph is the limit on the higher-end bimmers.

+1. The limit is defined by the ECU (many people still think the "speed limiter" is some add-on box under the hood...) so either a flash or a piggyback would be needed to override.

i hope you guys arent going for the speed limiter defeat while keeping the stock all seasons... those are only rated for 130mph (which is why the limiter is set to that)

on the 335i/xi, you only get the raised limiter with a factory ordered Z rated wheel package ( W or Y actual)

on the 335i, you get that with the base sport package
on the 335xi, you get that with the sport package plus the factory 18" wheel option.
its also what gets you the oil cooler. H rated tires= no oil cooler.

i wonder if dinan's new stage I (low boost for cars without the oil cooler) removes the speed limiter.
