Certified Retail repair with new parts can easily top that value.
You could have it back on the road for a fraction of that depending on your skill set, parts strategy, and your finish quality expectation.

Looks like a "high hit" ... if the airbags didn't deploy it's possible that important structural components aren't damaged.
HOWEVER, replacing electronics and related "stuff" - lights, sensors and cooling system components can be very expensive.
IF your insurance company doesn't "total" it be 200% certain it is examined/worked on by a QUALIFIED SHOP; trying to go CHEAP for BMW repairs can be very very expensive!

Thank you all. It was a high hit. Air bags did not deploy.

Your upper rails are damaged, this is a structural repair but that should be the most difficult part of repair if replaced. Most of the other stuff is bolt on.
Is this going through insurance?

Looks like time to go car shopping. Curious, would you get another BMW or consider something else? For me, I have had many cars in my lifetime, I've enjoyed Porsches, Mazdas, Nissans, Toyotas, etc., my 428i is my first BMW (and I have enjoyed it very much). Seeing your totaled BMW made me think about what would I look for if the BMW was totaled. Good luck, there really are a lot of nice cars to choose from, personally I would avoid Jags and Alfas (unless you enjoy constant and lengthy stays in the shop).
