Update:

Hey Guys, after installing the starter today the car still will not turn over, transmission selector light flickers off and on like the battery is dead again and the new starter does not have any"click" sounds. I'm starting to think maybe I have a out of sync security system, I have INPA 5.0.2 but its not showing the N55 motor. Do you guys know which INPA version has it?

Update:

Just finished testing the old starter and it appears to be fine.

Any update to this issue? I am having the identical problem with my wife's car. Did you find a resolution 525forlife? I even pulled the same codes as well as cc-id 50, 179, 167, 309, and 683. I cannot find any information on the cc-id 693 but did find the other cc-id codes online. Car will not crank, just a clicking from starter area.

cc-id codes?

Why not get a BMW code reader? You will get massively more advice.

You might want to check your starter too..... slew of them going bad it seems.

This is a good place to start and debug. This has nothing to do with the starter. It is either the transmission gearshift stalk or something causing the power to go off and on to that. Since you have something consistently failing, start to debug there.

And, +1 BMW specific code reader.

Same for me as well. I once drove to the beach at Galveston, TX and the XBimmer quit on me with all the Christmas lights on in the Dash, No Crank; had to tow it to a shop where they diagnosed and replaced the Kick Starter and voila!!! I was back in business.

I had a wonky starter also. But, this guy had "transmission selector light flickers off and on". That is different.

Similar Issue

I have a 2011 BMW X5 Diesel.

We replaced the injectors and cleaned the CBU. Now the car does not want to start. The starter is engaging but it just spins.

I took the DDE and the CAT and key to a shop to update the software and to make sure they all were sync together and working.

After got them back still same issue. The scanner is reading U0100. Also my dash is like a Christmas tree.

I am using the same battery that I was using prior the repairs. I removed the battery and fully charged it over night and still same issue. I even replaced the battery for a new battery that I have on a Mercedes (seems very similar) and still having the same code.

Any suggestions what to do next???

Wast this done at a dealer or independent? Was the adjustment value of the new injectors coded to the DDE?

The U0100 code is sort of a generic catch all that would require further diagnostics.

Thank you so much for your quick response. I sent the DDE, CAT and key to an independent store in Houston Texas. The shop name is Bimmer Life.

The update the software and did a diagnostic on the bench and it was communicating with the CAS module.

I did not do any adjustment value with the new injectors. We disconnected one of the injectors and saw that diesel was getting there.

What do you advice to do next??

My car is been sitting for about 4 months because my mechanic does not know what else to do.

While your car has been sitting for 4 months, this thread was laying dead & dormant for well over a year, where it was dead & dormant for a year prior to its last resurrection

You'd likely have better luck getting help / "advice" from more folks if you start your own new thread. Most folks seeing it's an old thread when they click on it, won't spend the time to read all the way, 2 pages deep, to see your new post...
