Welcome to Bimmerfest!

PLEASE post that question in the forum that matches your year of production 3 Series. I'd move your post, but the 335 spans more than one 3 Series chassis.

Ok, now you posted it's a 2007. I moved your thread to the E90 forum, since that's what you have.

Knocking inside only when you rev? That has to be the FTG!

Seriously though...inside what? Only when revving while parked? We need a little more info, this is like expecting a doctor to fix you when all you tell him is it hurts but only when your awake.

The word "knocking" is a scary one. Ticking is less scary.

Which describes it better? How about a recording of the sound?

Yeah, it scares me that you say knocking
When you rev. If you rev and hear the knocking just as you let off, unfortunately it's likely rod bearings.
But, just as a preventative check, inspect all your pulley components. I had an e60 a/c pulley go out that almost sounded like rod knock, so...
best of luck!

Starting to feel all cold an clammy .....thinking about the my engine is making a knocking sound since I just pulled mine a few weeks back and replaced it "in my garage on jack stands" at 49 im getting too old for that....just saying....I haven't broke into mine yet but my tuning fork ear told me that sound is a spun bearing...

Either way good luck I hope its a ticking sound instead of a knock your describing....Look in the oil filter housing if its all glittery it will be a sad day...

You replaced your engine and now you're hearing a knock? Ouch.

:edit: nvm, I re read and you meant you didn't break into the pulled engine.

OP- he's right. Check out oil filter and drain oil. Particles= sad day

For sure that would of been a devastating result. Luckily my engine swapping skills are better than my writing.
