Misfire Codes

Hi all, the idle speed on my 2003 6-cyl X5 has been erratic, so I did a diagnostic and came up with all cylinders misfiring, these are the codes I received in that order:
- P0300: Random/Multiple cylinder misfire detected
- P1352: Misfire during start cylinder 6
- P1343: Misfire cylinder 1 with fuel cut-off
- P1349: Misfire cylinder 4 with fuel cut-offengine
- P1347: Misfire cylinder 3 with fuel cut-off
- P1351: Misfire cylinder 5 with fuel cut-off
I recently had the engine trouble light on with vacuum leak codes and found a ruptured rubber boot, replaced it and the light went off, the vacuum leak codes were gone, I had also replaced all 6 spark plugs - any ideas what could be causing the above codes?

Those sound like old codes. You said "the light went off" after fixing the intake leak.

Clear all the codes and see what returns.

On an older e53, the most common random misfire is from dirty injector, dirty plug or bad coil.

Put in some injector cleaner, check your plugs and then if you get specific cylinder error, swap that cylinder with a different one and see if the error moves. If it does the coil is bad. I don't recommend changing all the coils just the one misbehaving.

Misfire Codes

I was chasing codes on my wifeís car for a better part of a month. I acquired a few hands me down coils so I actually was able to swap out coils and that cylinder would be fixed and then another one will be a problem. It dawned on me that Iíve never used injector cleaner and once I use some Iíve never had a misfire again

I've used it along with a variety of others. They all seemed to be about the same.
