For months we've suspected that Bavaria is brewing up an even hotter M2...

Now, thanks to a report from the UK's Car Magazine we have more details on BMW's latest hopped up pocket rocket.

Expected to arrive in the second quarter of 2018, the M2 CS will allegedly follow the same formula that's made the M Division's CS, CSL and GTS models instant cult classics among the BMW bourgeoisie--more power, a sharper chassis, and less weight.

Using the same boosted S55 inline six as the M3 and M4, the M2 CS is expected to kick out 402 bhp and 370 lb-ft of twist, a 37 bhp and 27 lb-ft improvement over the current M2.

Brakes, wheels and suspension improvements will join the increased outputs, but specifications and component lists are still forthcoming. Weight should fall by some 55 lbs thanks to an aluminum roof, copious CFRP usage, thinner glass, and racing buckets.

From the sounds of things the M2 CS will step dangerously close to the toes of its big brother the M4, albeit for a fraction of the price. Insiders claim the CS will show up with a 52,000 price tag, a 8,000 premium over the "regular" M2.

Excited?

Such a pity they claim its the same engine as the M3/M4, and then de-tune it to not cut off M4 sales.
