Into the Badlands

Kinda trippy, lots of magick but I get a kick out of it.

The widow, Emily Beecham, is some kind of hot and tough lady. She has the sort of gaze that almost makes you believe she could be that sort of warrior.

I'd never heard of it until now. I may have to check it out. Can it be watched on Netflix, Hulu or, Amazon Prime?

Funny how people get off on displaying weird aggression from the anonymous safety of the web.
Also funny how people get so used to arguing over every little thing that they think everyone else is out to do the same.

You need to chill, Bubba. Sometimes, people are just trying to be funny when they disagree with someone else. And that's OK. People get to disagree with one another and they get to try to be funny. It's as much on one of the participants as it is on the other to receive it as so.

And if you'd like your mind blown back into alignment with normal folks even more: a person just as easily may consider that even if someone's intent was nefarious, it's our own responsibility to simply brush it off and go about our day.

I don't get it. Every time I hear someone say 'you're tripping,' it's not unlike being told 'you're nuts' or the like. It's a TV drama. It's wild viewing in my world. One must suspend disbelief. One of the lead actresses has an interesting face.

Why someone would feel a need to tell me 'you're tripping' in response to a shorter version of that is beyond me.

Season three just ended on AMC. They had an all day showing yesterday of this season. If I'd been thinking I'd have posted sooner. But it helps to have seen the first two seasons. I dunno, part of me feels like this it's just escapist nonsense but it's pretty wild. Some sort of future-scape, semi post apocalyptic perhaps, cars and motorcycles still have fuel to run but there are no firearms. Much vying for turf/territory, lot of simmering and hot war, the weapons are arrows, swords, and martial arts.

Amazon has it but not cheap, $3 an episode I think. Or I just saw they have seasons 1 & 2 on DVD. Season one for less than $10, season 2 about $25. Not sure about Netflix.

I realized doing this bit of research that I didn't see season 1, which was only 6 episodes. That was aired in 2015, it was two years before season 2 came out.

Then we're back to the question: Why do you feel the need to share this internal confusion when little more than conflict can arise from your in-kind response to it? That's not intended as a question for you to answer anywhere but in your own head.

The larger point is that person could/maybe even should choose simply to ignore what he finds unhelpful rather than calling it out. It's what peaceful folks do even when they too share the anonymity of the web.

True enough. I supposedly value the words of the Buddha and he spoke of the value of 'restraint.'

I will add that part of what struck me as odd about that post is he just arrived here, like post #8 and he's sort of taking a pot shot. I mean, if he knew what a jerk I am that would be one thing ...

Agreed. When offered the chance, the circumstance sort of lends itself to the idea that maybe he was just trying to be clever. And even if he were being an anonymous jerk, he's so new that it's of little consequence.

I did have a thought that perhaps he was just trying to be clever. I will agree that it would be wiser to leave such things lie where they are. Now I just need to match my behavior to that.

The choreography of the martial arts scenes is some of the best I've seen. I was surprised that it pulled me in like it did. I just happened to morph out of one show to the season 2 opener, which was kick ass.

I don't get Netflix but I see I can get season 1 on DVD for about 10 or 12 bucks.

It's one of my current favorite shows. It's got that old school fantasy martial arts vibe, but at a much higher quality of acting and cinematography, mixed in with a science fiction dystopian future.

The Widow is also hot!

I watched a few eps of Season 1, didn't really grab me. Maybe I'll revisit.

Same with Altered Carbon - I really dig the premise and I like the actor playing the lead character, but it just isn't keeping my attention 3-4 episodes in.

Try Ep 1, season 2. There was a 2 year space between seasons 1 and 2. I have a DVD of season 1 coming in the mail, dunno yet what sort of improvements were made. I do know the the episode I refer to was pretty wild.

Just received the DVD of season 1. The same actors, many of them, but it's rough. My guess is they got enough attention with this one to get better backing.

And I don't know how they did it, but in the two year hiatus they took the widow from not unattractive to smokin' hot. Couldn't just be makeup. I know, I know, I might seem a bit smitten with this TV lady. Oh well. They really upped quality in season 2.

Gotta be. My guess is they said, 'Hey, this is your ticket babe. You're good now, but serious, serious working out will make you that much more believable.'

I've watched four episodes so far of season 1 (6 total) and I'm glad I got it. Fills in some of the gaps. Season 2 was still entertaining w/o knowing of the origin story. In many dramas you have to assume much of the origin from hints.

BTW, that is one bad ass bike Sunny is riding in season 1. You see it very clearly in episode 1. I did some searching and one biker site said it was probably an Excelsior Henderson. Some sneered at it on that site, others said 'F - it, I like it.' I like it as well. Search indicates the company lasted about 6 years, formed to fill in some gaps in the Harley market, wiki said delivery for some Harley models was 2 years wait. They went under in part owing to Y2K anxiety (?!). Looks like a Harley engine but why would Harley supply a competitor? OTOH, starting your own engine manufacturing is expensive as hell, not to mention, filled with bugs likely as not.

The Badlands are beautiful by bicycle.

Milady Wife and I have bicycled the Theodore Roosevelt NP 35 mile loop through the ND Badlands a number of times now.

LOL. Reading above, CMAC lives in TV Mury-Bury Land. Bwahaha.

Whatever, opinionated old crank. I am a performer myself, and I get a kick out of good theater, TV, movies, music, and dance. The fight scenes are like good dance choreography.
