[Pics] My first ED

Thanks to all who helped me for my first ED. Here're some of the pics. Due to the timing, we could only spend 2 days but both of those days were magical! Spent most of our time in bavaria, such a beautiful experience!

Now the painful wait begins!

Nice! We were there Friday, looks like you missed all the rain we had. Wow only 2 days, that's too bad, we only had 4 and I thought I was cutting it close. I guess we both have an excuse now to do it again ;-)

Any guesses on when I should expect the car to be at my dealership?

If it arrives at Port Hueneme on Saturday, Dec. 26, then it should be at your dealership sometime between Jan. 5-15, unless it's delayed at the VPC for some reason. Go ahead and circle Jan. 8 on your calendar as your expected redelivery date.

The average California ED car takes 17 days from Port Hueneme to the dealer. That average is affected by Customs delays, damage to be fixed by the VPC, whether there is a truck load of cars waiting to be taken to your general area and perhaps a million other things.

A month or so ago there was an enormous back log of BMWs waiting at Hueneme to be processed at the VPC. If this is still the case it might affect the time it will take for your car to get to your dealer. And, of course, the Christmas and New year's holidays can have their impact.

Let's hope everything is at least average in which case you should have your car by the middle of January.

Maybe I over-estimated the delay due to the holidays a bit too much...?

Jan 7 is my birthday, there wouldn't be a better gift than this on that day for me! But..I think that's too optimistic :/

Give yourself 2 week once the car arrives at port, your car is suppose to be in port the day after xmas. ED cars are to have highest priority to get through VPC, but that isn't always the case.

My car is also on the Tortugas! It has a little farther to come (Salem, OR) so I'd guess it'll probably take a day or two more than N. Calif. I hope the estimates are accurate since I already have a trip to Arizona planned for the last week in January, and it'd be awesome to be able to drive my new car there. I already got tickets on Southwest for the trip as I didn't expect my car would be here by then, but I can always apply the ticket funds to a later flight.

Of the 14 ED cars which I tracked from Port Hueneme to an Oregon dealer the quickest took two weeks and the longest took five weeks with an average of 23 days. That's about a week longer than cars being redelivered in California. It should not take a week longer to drive up to Oregon so I suppose the extra is a combination of the small sample, the VPC effect and the fact that it probably takes a few extra days to assemble a truck load of cars to Oregon - about 11 times as many cars in my survey were redelivered in California.

Thanks for the info, Trinitony. Even 23 days would get the car to me in time for my trip; 30 days would be the maximum (assuming the ship arrives on schedule). I think I have pretty good odds.

Yes, I would guess that you have a good chance of getting your car back before the last week of January. I hope it all goes well.

Congrats! My car is on the Tortugas as well. We're entering the Panama Canal today.

I found the Canal webcam sites. Anyone know how to tell the exact time it'll enter the locks? I've been using marinetraffic.com (here), but it hasn't updated in over 24 hours.

Oops... I had the wrong ship earlier. Looks like as the ship is transiting the canal, the location updates are far more frequent, i.e., every 5 mins or so.

Looks like they have not updated its latest position yet? Thanks for posting the links btw!
