UHF/VHF Radio Installation in X1 ?

I own a 2014 BMW X1, trading in my RAV4. There is not a great deal of "space" for installing a radio. One interesting feature is the car's battery is in the back of the car, under the rear floor board.

Might some have suggestions on a small mobile UHF/VHF radio that might be a fit in a tiny space?

Or might someone have a BMW X1 and has installed a UHF/VHF radio in theirs?

Thanks,
Chuck

Working on the same thing here on a 2013 X1 -- seems to be a nice place to left of the battery but worried about heat buildup...

Love to hear other people's ideas (and antenna mounts that work & where).

For antenna mount, I used a NMO lip mount on the rear hatch, with a random comet 2m/70cm antenna. I think it's too big, and would like to go to a shorter rubber ducky antenna instead.

I tossed an icom ID-880 in the spot beside the battery (previously filled with a foam insert) - it's been working ok for a couple months - however very low duty cycle! I had to use extensions for the remote head unit, stuffed in the pocket at the front with some double sided tape (no iDrive).

I have plans to add a small APRS tracker as well - location and installation TBD.
