If my ignition comes on with headlights or the car stays running with key off and headlights on is this a headlight switch problem? Just bought the car its a mess. Brake lights dont work unless key is on. Has a crome plastic knob, might be a different switch from original.
Thanks my friend

My dash lights went out when I adjusted the temperature gauge. I found the cause for this while investigating why there was static in my speakers that sounded like the wires were shorting out. When I removed my aftermarket radio, I found that the installer simply twisted the speaker wires and wrapped them with electrical tape. The installer actually used a butt-connector on the dimmer wire but didn't crimp it properly, so the wire came loose. It probably came loose and shorted out when I turned the temperature control knob because there was another wire, not in use, that was left just dangling. This dangling wire was lodged in the temperature control mechanism when I removed the radio.

I have fixed the wiring issue PROPERLY, but I had no clue what was wrong with my dash lights until reading this forum. Thanks for sharing your experiences.
