Is this possible.........

I talked to a person last weekend about his M5 and he mentioned that he is getting 15 to 16 mpg in town and 24 to 25 on the highway at 80mph.

I seriously doubt it. Not unless he drives it like a Corolla.

BMW site states 12 and 18. The folks on the M5 board state 10 and 15 if they don't baby it.

e39 or e60? We had an e60 M5 in a meet last October and he was burning a full tank to our half (so was the e63 M6 for that matter.) An e39 at the same meet was using about what the e63/64's were. In any event, I don't believe those numbers.

I don't believe it either. I just got an 06 E60 and I'm still in the break in period, so I'm not tearing it up yet, and I'm averaging 12.5 for town and highway. The things burns more gas than anything I have ever driven or owned.

Impossible! I put in a lot of highway miles and when I go easy to stretch mileage it might hit 18, but thats it. My long-term average is 16.8. This car is a gas pig! But what a gas pig it is.
