Rear Window Defroster

I have noticed that it takes about 10-15 minutes for my rear window defroster to actually heat up the window enough to see the condensation burn off. For the duration of that time I can't see out the back window if there is moisture on the outside. Has anyone else had this problem? how long does it take on your cars? I want to take it in but it seems like such a trivial problem. Is there a regulator for the RWDF that can go bad?

Is it just foggy? Only takes mine probably 5-7 min max.

Foggy...

and condensation on the outside. I don't expect it to clear the water off the back window but thats what mainly keeps the window fogged up. I'll try squeegeeing the back window before i take it in to see if that improves the situation.

That does seem a little long if the fog was on the inside but it sounds like the problem is on the outside.

When you drive, doesn't the water bead off the window ?

Have you considered waxing the outside of the rear window so that the water will bead off quickly . . .

Mine is faster.

Just fogged on inside / outside, between 35-60 degrees, it takes about 1-3 minutes. Haven't tried it on ice, yet.
