Remote (keyfob) won't unlock trunk...

Ok, I've searched and searched... Bought my 2002 M3 vert about a year and a half ago, and the trunk has never unlocked/popped/opened (whatever you want to call it) when pressing the button on the keyfob. Hold it down for 3 seconds, nothing. Hold it down for TEN seconds, nothing. I know it isn't supposed to fly open, but I never even hear the actuator fire.

The trunk button in the driver's kick panel and the button on the lid grip have ALWAYS WORKED just fine. (In fact, I just replaced that whole trunk handle due to cracking plastic, so the microswitch is brand new.) Manual key turn opens it as well. I checked the wire loom from the body to the trunk lid with no issues, all lights work, etc. I have NO other problems, other than the keyfob/remote not popping the trunk. I am at my wit's end... Am I looking at a GM5 issue? Key programming? Black magic?

Somebody has to know something....... Thanks in advance!

Does it do the same thing with the second key?

Unfortunately, I only have the one key, plus a valet key... The PO was a slob. I'm lucky it has anything more than the one key. :-(

Have you tried initializing the remote? Google "BMW key initialization process", if that doesn't fix it, it's probably your General Module.
