2016 BMW 3 Series 330e eDrive

The BMW 330e represents the next evolution of the beloved and iconic BMW 3 Series. Combining BMW's award-winning 2.0 liter 4-cylinder engine with a lithium-ion powered electric motor, the 330e delivers the legendary power you expect from a BMW with groundbreaking fuel efficiency: combined output of 248 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque that propels the 330e from 0-60 in just 5.9 seconds.

Powertrain
The 330e combines BMW's award-winning 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder engine with an electric motor, powered by a lithium-ion battery, integrated into its 8-speed automatic transmission. The 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine generates a maximum output of 180 hp and 215 lb-ft of peak torque and features a TwinScroll turbocharger, High Precision Injection, VALVETRONIC fully variable valve lift control, and Double-VANOS variable camshaft timing. The additional electric motor provides peak torque that is available from a stand-still in typical electric drive fashion. This has the effect of boosting the engine's output for instantaneous responsiveness and power build-up with no delay when accelerating from stationary, as well as far more dynamic performance whenever a quick burst of speed is required. Thanks to its duo of drive units, intelligent hybrid powertrain control and permanent all-wheel drive, the BMW 330e promises effortless performance and outstanding efficiency.

So for a 328d F31 we're talking about an almost 2% increase in price in the setting of talk of deflation in Europe, minimal inflation in US and a USD which is stronger by 25% than last year. It doesn't make much sense esp for a vehicle not built in the US. That's a huge profit increase for BMW.
I'm hoping the lease residual values will soon reach 70% so we can still have the nice lease deals that are around today.

#125 ·
It seems as if ZLP (excluding the 320) is not only adding the adaptive/swivel feature, it is also adding high beam assist which was prev a $250 option.

Thanks for providing these ordering guides. Very excited to place an order this fall.

3 questions regarding the 328i order sheets:

1. Order guide says adding Venetian beige leather also adds 7AC (sport line) and 2XE (sport steering wheel?) to the build. Aren't these standard? Is 2XE the sport steering wheel??
2. The 6MT version doesn't have automatic stop/start listed as a feature.
3. Any idea how close dealer invoice is to the diplomatic price listed?

Thanks again.

#128 · (Edited)
The order guide says LCFJ (venetian beige dakota leather with dark osyer highlight) and 7AC(standard sport line) will delete 255(the sport steering wheel) and add 2XE. There is no reference of 2XE in the order guide, my guess is a LCI beige-colored sport steering wheel(?).

It is interesting that 6MT does not get ASS, pre-LCI 6MT does get ASS(per previous year's order guides).

The order guide's base price of diplomatic is only 5% off base MSRP, but the invoice base price is 8% off base MSRP.

So for the 328i it's halogens or get the ZPP?

BMW giveth (sportline) and they taketh away (forcing you to buy stuff you may not want to get stuff you want).

All told a 2016 328i in my preferred build is $500 more than a 2015 but comes with the following additional equipment:

LED vs Xenons
LED fog lights
Moonroof
Comfort Access
Alarm
Power Seats
Lumbar
Satellite Radio
Dynamic Cruise control
rain sensor
Universal garage door opener
auto dimming mirror

I could live with that.

Mediterranean shows on the f30 order guide. Are you saying that it cannot be ordered now?

#161 ·
(Apologies to those who saw this on the other forum. I'm looking for advice wherever I can find it.)

Trying to set up an ED for F31 328xi. The CA just came back and said ZMP can't be combined with ZTR. This is clearly allowed by the ordering guide (there's even a separate price for ZTR when ZMP is also there), but the CA says he's confirmed the problem with ED department in Germany.

Anyone else has encountered anything like this? Suggestions on how to deal with the problem?

#162 ·
I would find a new CA. I could be wrong but there isn't anything in the ordering guide that says you can't have both. There is a line that actually says if you want ZMP and the 23N wheels, you have to order ZTR. Sounds like your CA doesn't know what they're talking about. It's always scary when you know more than them.

^^ "Regular LED" meaning the same look as the adaptive but just not adaptive right? Still the angel eyes I assume. Judging by rhe video that was posted, it looks like sport seats will indeed be standard, such great news!

#182 ·
From the pictures posted on other threads it does look like regular LED headlights have angel eyes. Also the horizontal pieces that connect to the grille lit up(while pre-LCI are chrome pieces), that is a cool visual cue for LCI.

Sport seats are standard, hopefully they are re-sculpted(different part numbers?) to provide wider range of adjustments than the pre-LCI ones. :)

#193 ·
I think 320i with ZLP and ZSP is the best bang for buck (assuming ZSP can be ordered without ZPP, otherwise it becomes a total money grab for me).

I refuse to drive a BMW without sport tuned suspension. Although they improved the hardware on the regular suspension, it will no doubt still be floaty and soft. To me it defeats the purpose of a sport sedan. There fore better choices for a soft riding 4 door sedan imo.

#196 · (Edited)
You're speculating. Drive it and see. I feel the same on principal, but I'm willing to give the new one a shot. I've had a 320i now for about 16 months. Besides the sport package, there is no bang for buck within 100 miles of this car. It is a 'luxury' sport sedan, don't forget. Things like power seats, split fold down rear seats and other basic features should come standard on a luxury sport sedan but you have to pay dearly to have them with the 320i. Premium in the 320i still doesnt get you leather. Premium package and you still get crappy headlights and plastic seats? Ridiculous. The car drives beautifully but that's about it. It has a premium feel, yes. It is quiet, refined, etc. But the blatant lack of features is depressing. You can tout the driving dynamics all day long but it doesn't change the fact that a VW GTI comes with myriad more 'luxury' features for almost half the price. At least the 328 comes standard with basic 'luxury' features that can be found in a Hyundai Sonata and then you can work from there.

The 328 comes with so many more standard features with premium package essentially rounding it out, with more power, active sound instead of the blow dryer engine sound of the n20, I just can't see ever considering a 320 again.
