Winter storage - top up or down?

So, put a lift in my garage and have the 2009 Z4 covered. Had an issue with the placement of a ceiling light, and gained another six inches of lift with the top down.

Any thoughts on whether it's better to store top up or down? Again, it's covered, in a garage, six feet in the air. It's not climate controlled, but stays above freezing.

Thoughts?

I always garage stored my Z3 with the top up and covered. Felt it would keep the fabric and plastic rear window in better shape that way. But yours is hardtop and glass so I suspect it'd be OK to keep it retracted.

I would store with the top up . It will help keep critters out of your car. They can do a lot of damage to interior and electrical wiring.

Haven't checked but the owners manual might cover this.

actually in my manual, it says (words to the effect of)
Not leaving the top down for longer than is necessary and not to leave down for long periods of time

think this has to do with creasing the fabric

Thanks to all. It is a retractable hard top, so my only real concern was with the 'folding' of hydraulic lines, wires, etc., with the top retracted versus up. It's a drywalled, concrete floor garage, attached to the house, so not too worried about critters.

The car is covered with a BMW cover, but it would probably be less dusty to have the top up, but frankly, gaining another six inches of room to walk under the lift is worth the cleaning in the spring.

Thanks for all your comments.
