Coolant level sensor

Good day to all. Check engine light came on on my 2000 Z3 Roadster and the code it is throwing is "low coolant level". The reservoir is up to the line and the temp gauge reacts normally. That is the gauge slowly advances to the approximate middle of the gauge and stops. I am suspecting the sensor. My first question is 1) Is this the sensor that is located about 2/3 of the way up the radiator on the passenger side? My second question is 2) has anyone experienced a faulty detector?

Thanks in advance anyone can give me on this topic.

Bob
