Very Slight jerk or hesitation at highway speeds 2004 320i

Hey Guys, I feel this very slight jerk or hesitation at highway speeds on my 2004 320i. It's very subtle, happens every few minutes on say a 45 min trip, so subtle but I can feel it. It seems to lessen the longer I drive at approx 3500 rpm's. I'm thinking maybe I need to replace the air filter or maybe the spark plugs are dirty or the transmission oil needs to be replaced, thoughts? Much appreciated!
P.s. it is a 5 speed manual stick with 240K km or 150K miles

torontomike: have used a scan tool...any codes? could be a lot of things...need to eliminate some things...I'd start by cleaning...once I had a similar problem a I replaced the spark plugs and then coils. but that was a shot in the dark.

Hey thanks for getting back. I don't have a scan tool to be able to read codes. Any recommendations on where I can get one? But I have a feeling what you said could be it, the spark plugs, I don't think I've changed them in over 5 years for sure!

Remember it could be a multitude of other things but the plugs (and coils) why not at this point. You still will not be full circle complete but change out the battery (group#49) and ground straps... especially if you live survive in a harsh climate region of the country...I had my heart broken (and wallet) due to those deteriorated/ corroded ground straps. I made my own and now every X3 has new fresh ground straps.

A buddy had a "yaw" sensor go out on him ('03 330). The car would jerk every so often while driving (as opposed to sitting at a light - haha). It's part of the DSC system; I think was applying slight brake pressure to separate wheels making the car jerk a little.

It was an expensive fix, in the $1,300 range. The part online is north of $700, so hopefully it's a much cheaper problem.

Good luck.
