1970 2002 Need help with fuel line

I've taken over a restoration project on a 1970 B.M.W. 2002. The owner has installed a rubber fuel line that runs from the tank, through the rear package tray, and along the floor, on the INSIDE of the car. It goes out through the firewall, by the heater core, and then to the carburetor. This cant be correct! I've gotten little info from the dealer, and I've checked several websites/videos and found no info. I did find a few pics, but just of the end of a metal line, sticking out under the brake booster. Does anyone have any thoughts or pics of the factory fuel line under the car?

I believe what you have is correct. The line should be plastic, not rubber. Try Bluntech for replacement.
