BMW has not acknowledged the problem. There was no reasonable effort in my experience. Perhaps you should review this issue in more depth.
This is what happened in my case as well minus the ticks, I remember schnell525 from my thread last fall. For the most part, I'm on my second set of injectors which made no difference. I also had a separate valve stem seal problem that multiple people admitted shouldn't occur on a car under 50 to 60k miles. I was just under 33k at the time I believe, maybe less.

I bought my 2013 in late 2013 with a Dec 2012 date of manufacture. Only issue i have is a gas smell overnight in the garage when the tank is full. This is very concerning and disappointing to say the least.

You are COMPLETELY wrong, and I hope to post my thorough explanation soon.

Everyone should steer far clear of BMW products going forward.

This reminds me of the movie Airplane where everyone quickly lined up to slap the paranoid person. I'm going to just wait until we hear what the actual recall is, and what BMW is going to do about it. This engine is used in many of their products, and I can't imagine they (BMW NOT dealers) will not make it right since they admit there is an issue. Other than the induction and exhaust systems, it's the same engine used in the M5/M6's. As I said, the same thing happened to my E46 ///M3 with the bearing / oil pump recall after (it did take a while for BMW to admit) some engines exploded. They gave 100K mile warranty to all owners of the impacted model years. I sold it sight unseen 12 years later with 135K hard miles. This isn't an //M, but my point still holds.

I do feel for folks that have already had indy repairs done with out of pocket money...

What about those of us that just purchased a vehicle 2 weeks ago out of warranty? Should I now shop around for a warranty? Wait to see how this recall goes and what my dealer will do? They already have an apt set up for me for Wednesday to take care of 3 opened recalls.....not sure what recalls these are.

I had a scheduled maintence appointment this morning and noticed this thread a few days before I brought my 550 in. I mentioned the recall and they said they're not sure if they can do it because it's not authorized by BMW yet. They said they'll do it if they can. I know some said that they are supposed to give you an equivalent loaner car or better, and for the first time I didn't get a 328/428, I got a 2015 X5, so I was pleasantly surprised.

Called my dealer to see what incentives were being offered for the customer loyalty part of this campaign. Was told that there was no info available until the new incentive programs start next Monday.

Hello Travis,

Below is the bulletin regarding the N63. Please review.

The N63 Customer Care Package Campaign program has been launched today (12/29/14). It has been designed exclusively for BMW F0x, F1x and E7x vehicles with the N63 engine, to ensure that these engines keep delivering the ultimate performance and exceptional quality for years of service. This Care Package (free of charge to the customers) includes a 6 point check, and if necessary, the replacement of one or more of the following powertrain components:

Hot-Film Air Mass Sensors
PIEZO High Pressure Fuel Injectors
Engine Vacuum Pump
Fuel System Low Pressure Sensor/Feed Line
Fresh Air Intake Turbo Seals
Crankcase Ventilation Lines (Hoses)
The care package also includes engine timing chain test plan, engine oil & filter replacement, vehicle's programming with a reduction of the CBS intervals, and finally a multi-point inspection of the vehicle, including tire pressures, fluid levels, safety and convenience features.

The following important Service Bulletins related to the N63 Customer Care Package have been posted today on TIS. Please make sure that you familiarize yourself and your personnel with the content of:

SI B00 13 14 "N63 Care Package Overview" - outlines the basic concept/goals of the campaign, provides a script for contacting customers and details of the "N63 Customer Appreciation/Royalty Program"
SI B11 06 14 "N63 Engine: Customer Care Package" - provides detailed technical instructions of N63 engine inspection and parts replacement when required
SI B11 16 14 "N63 Engine: Check the Timing Chain" - describes procedures for the timing chains ISTA test plan and for the CBS conversion/programming.
To complete the N63 Customer Care Package campaign, order only the necessary parts, in the quantities needed, for customers’ vehicles that have confirmed failures as a result of engine inspection, or the test plan. Such parts can only be ordered through TeileClearing (via a "N63 CCP PuMA case), as the part numbers are blocked. Parts identified as needed in the TeileClearing case will be forwarded to the Parts Department and will constitute the Center’s Parts order for this vehicle.. An initial set of parts was “pushed out” to each Center on or about December 29th. Please use the parts from this initial set, and replenish it by submitting TeileClearing cases for the parts required for every VIN.

Also, when applicable, perform the procedure described in SI B61 30 14, "12-Volt Battery Replacement under the BMW Maintenance Program" together with performing the N63 Customer Care Package.

Thank You,

Vanessa

My former CA once informed me, doing a recall, well, it was also a good way of luring in a certain amount of clients into the dealers....
In this case

Just spoke with BMW CR and they're showing only the above notice (service one). She said she can't see any sales program to go along with it. As stated above, maybe it will come out Monday.

Yep, I honestly feel for you as well. Was the vehicle purchased as CPO? If not was it purchased at a BMW dealer? If so, I think you've got 90 day warranty at least. Anyway from the material posted above, you should be covered for this at least.

I am surprised that the coolant lines under the turbos aren't mentioned in the recall.

I gave my VIN to my SA here in Canada and he said there are no open campaigns or recalls on my 2011 550xi. Perhaps it hasn't been communicated to BMW Canada yet?

My car was dropped off at the dealer today, but they claim an oil change is not part of the N63 customer care package. They did however confirm you will receive some sort of a gift since the repairs are estimated to take about a week.

Forgot to ask....my car was towed to the dealer (from an independent shop) as it has not been drivable for a few weeks, so my conversation with the SA was on the phone. Then again, its about the last thing I would be interested in at this point.....I don't think I will ever buy another BMW.

My CA says 2pm EST Monday at the round tables (sales conference call) it will be announced. My CA wants to get me into an M5 since I really want an old school 6MT, not sure that will happen but it is tempting.

Tend to go with this. Just spoke with my CA, Monday should be the day. I'm definitely interested to see if this will truly be a good program for the customer or just a PR stunt like the $50 gift bag.

Looks like it, I ve been spoiled by some BMW watches in former years...
It is something German carbuilders use all the time.
In 30 plus years of owning VAG cars I am getting used to this.
Makes you wonder, which clients receive the inventation though.
Am I a sitting duck for things like this?
Is a forums like this .....
Well.
