E60 / E61 (2004 - 2010)
BMW 5-Series E60 Sedan was first seen in the Unites States in the fall of 2003 with a 2004 Model Year designation. The E61 wagon followed shortly there after. The E60/E61 5 series is now available as a 528i, 528xi, 535i, 535xi, 550i and a 535xi sports wagon! -- View the E60 Wiki

Exclamation "New" V8 for the 545i or 550i!

In the latest Car & Driver (SLK 55 on the cover) they're saying that the V8 in the new 750i is the same 4.8 V8 (slight intake mods) from the 2004 X5 4.8is!

Hence the E60's "new" V8. 362hp / 361 ft-lbs of torque. More firepower for the E60!

What do y'all think?

Well, let me put it this way:

The lease deals BMW was handing out for the 2005 545i were simply too good to pass up. They were even too good to wait for the extra ponies in the 550i!

The E60 styling is questionable but the driveability of the car is simply spectacular.

I've seen some of the lease rates listed in other forums. Roughly, what do the payments come out being?

Well, as you know, the numbers are contingent on a few factors:

(1) Price of the car
(2) Money Factor (interest rate)
(3) Residual
(4) Sales Tax

I did a euro delivery of my car so I immediately save about 7% off of US invoice pricing.

I got a MF of 0.0013 on a 61% residual (3yr/36k) lease and my sales tax is 8.25%.

My totally montly on a pretty well loaded 545i is $716/month.

BMW also, due the ED, makes one lease payment for you.

Finally, I just received a BMW CCA rebate of $1,000.00.

Wow! That is good. I wonder if I should go for a test drive. Don't want to offend anyone but the styling has yet to grow on me...

I had forgotton about the rebate. I am looking for a CPO 540 right now. I "think" they give rebates for CPO as well as new.

What dealer did you go through for ED?

Hmm, I had heard that the HP is 360 something but that the torque was almost the same as the 545...hence not much difference in day to day driving...but if the torque is really that high, it will be a noticeable difference.

That's why I got my 545i in April. Thus,

Having driven both the 745i and 750i before finalizing my order for the 545i, I can say that I felt very little difference between the 4.4 liter and 4.8 liter versions of the V8. But that's just me.
